Developed as a collaboration between Cirrus and Ballistic Recovery Systems (BRS), this parachute was thought for light aircraft, initially Cessna and then Cirrus. This is how it saved the life of a pilot in Belgium [full video:

That's not a Cirrus though, that chute is just the BRS version. The Cirrus version of the chute is integrated with the airframe and includes support lines which deploy such that the plane lands on its wheels rather than nose down.

Wow! That should be a standard feature. Seems super effective. @RGVaerialphotos @DJSnM check this out!

You can't park there mate

I would think that he would have done better by gliding the aircraft and attempting to make a rough landing. But, what do I know? lol

Thought the video was going to end up with it being a toy plane or something. Amazing surprise!

There's an issue where pilots avoid deploying the chute, try to save the plane instead, and die

Years ago when I lived in Fayetteville, AR, the former CEO of @Walmart had their Cirrus deploy chutes and landed by the university after a failure.

“Sir, you can’t park there”

This parachute system has found adoption by sheiks as an alternative to helicopters when longer range flights with vertical landings are required. Despite the plane being a total loss after each trip, the sheiks prioritize environmental stewardship and ensure all components are recycled

This should be standard and mandatory. Now make something for those big passenger jets.
