That's not a Cirrus though, that chute is just the BRS version. The Cirrus version of the chute is integrated with the airframe and includes support lines which deploy such that the plane lands on its wheels rather than nose down.

I would think that he would have done better by gliding the aircraft and attempting to make a rough landing. But, what do I know? lol

There's an issue where pilots avoid deploying the chute, try to save the plane instead, and die

Years ago when I lived in Fayetteville, AR, the former CEO of @Walmart had their Cirrus deploy chutes and landed by the university after a failure.

This is how good FSD has gotten. And I’ll admit, I was a little nervous when the light turned green because I thought the car was going to try and go for it. But it didn’t. It waited for the officer’s hand signal, then it proceeded. Incredible that a car intuitively knows this!

MAJOR multi agency emergency response after plane calls Mayday over M62 moors before crashing Search and Rescue Helicopter from Hull, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the North West Air Ambulance and National Police Air Service helicopter are scouring the Moors around Littleborough this lunchtime after a plane lost contact. The Cirrus SR20 aircraft called Mayday with two people on board just after 1030 this morning over the moors between Manchester and Huddersfield this lunchtime, where air traffic control asked him to emergency land at Leeds Bradford Airport and then Crossland Moor Airfield at Huddersfield. Its is believed the light aircraft crashed before reaching either airfield. Emergency services are now searching the area close to Hollingworth Lake for the aircraft and its occupants. Greater Manchester Police Said; Emergency services responding to light aircraft crash in Littleborough Please see below lines and guidance. Emergency services are responding to reports of a light aircraft crash in the Littleborough area. We are currently in attendance to establish the full circumstances and assess any casualties. A scene is in place whilst emergency service workers conduct their enquiries and people are asked to avoid the area as this work is carried out. Further updates will be made once we get further information.
