They are not with the students. They are afraid that the PM is taking Bengal and taking India forward. So basically, it's a facade. They are instigating the students to go ahead with the anti-India movement because they are afraid that India is going forward under PM Narendra Modi... It is very clear that external forces are behind these parties, and they want to destabilise our country, and we are not going to allow that. We are with the students, but on the facade of a student issue, if you think you are going to induct terrorists and destabilise our country, we will not allow that."

A student at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) was allegedly violently sexually assaulted by a shuttle driver appointed by the institution on the 5th of October 2024. She reports facing ongoing harassment and intimidation from other drivers, some of whom are pressuring her to withdraw the charges, while subjecting her to blame and shame. The student also says that the suspect has not yet been apprehended.
