The agreement, signed by Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, and Mr. Avinash Mishra, Chief Executive, South Asia, Surbana Jurong Infrastructure, in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, takes forward the strategic partnership announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year and marks the transition from vision to implementation. This is music to the ears of someone who lived in Mumbai for 10 years and left disappointed because the infrastructure just wouldn’t keep up. Listen to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on the massive infrastructure push around Mumbai: •India’s largest airport is getting ready, and the NAINA city around it will be three times bigger than Mumbai—set to become a business magnet. •You will be able to travel from Vadhawan Port to BKC in just 25 minutes. •Vadhawan Port is Maharashtra’s biggest infrastructure project. •It will transform not just Maharashtra’s economy but also that of Bharat. •JNPT Port has put Mumbai on the world map, accounting for 65% of India’s container traffic. •Vadhawan Port will be three times bigger than JNPT. •At Vadhawan Port, we will create a fourth Mumbai, with the city’s third airport coming up there. •Between 2009 and 2014, Maharashtra failed to develop robust infrastructure in Mumbai, leading to high living costs and prompting startups to relocate to cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. As a result, Mumbai missed out on the IT revolution. But now, with our infrastructure projects, that is changing. •Mumbai—not Bengaluru or Hyderabad—is India’s true startup capital. •30% of our startups are tech companies. •Navi Mumbai is India’s data center capital, commanding 60% of the country’s data center capacity. West Bengal has similar potential, but it cannot realize any of it as long as Mamata Banerjee remains Chief Minister. She must be voted out. The same goes for Tamil Nadu—Stalin is dragging it down.
