Flights originated from Hunter Army Airfield (home of the 160th Night Stalkers and 75th Rangers), Naval Air Station Oceana (home of DEVGRU/SEAL Team 6), Cannon AFB (Air Force Special Operations), Hurlburt Field (AFSOC headquarters), and Fort Campbell (5th Special Forces Group). You don't airlift from every Tier 1 special operations base in the country simultaneously for a conventional deployment. The destinations are equally telling. Ovda Air Base in Israel and multiple Jordanian staging bases, putting elite units right on Iran's doorstep. The 82nd Airborne announcement was the headline. The real story is a massive JSOC package moving into position for something the Pentagon hasn't publicly acknowledged yet. Following a session on February 11, 2026, the Senate voted 105 in favor (with 0 against and 1 abstention) to authorize their participation in the joint training exercise titled "Improving the Capacity of Special Operations Forces" (or "Mejorar la Capacidad de las Fuerzas de Operaciones Especiales" in Spanish). The training, a collaborative effort between the U.S. Navy SEALs and Mexico's Naval Special Operations Unit (under SEMAR), will take place from February 15 to April 16, 2026, at two key locations in Campeche.
