Oak Ridge, TN was also the headquarters for the "Manhattan Project." Also Oak Ridge National Laboratory which is the largest US lab. The lab is affiliated with the Department of Energy(DOE) with a budget of 2.4 billion a year. Its operating agency is UT–Battelle. The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). The SNS uses a linear particle accelerator to provide the most intense pulsed neutron beams in the world for scientific research. Mini CERN but it's still a particle accelerator nonetheless. There are about 30,000 worldwide.

Thanks, Ryan. I knew I’d read “particle accelerator” on its website. MINI or not, it was HQ for the Manhattan Project. 👀

We've got a problem. CERN doesn't only exist in Geneva, Switzerland. Is this common knowledge? There are 6 other CERN locations WITHIN THE UNITED STATES: There's one in Berkeley, California: There's one in Batavia, Illinois: There's one in Upton, New York: One in Menlo Park, California in conjunction w/ the U.S. Dept of Energy & Stanford University: One in Lemont, Illinois: One in Oak Ridge, Tennessee:

There's only one #CERN It's in Switzerland. CERN is a Large Hadron Collider. A Particle accelerator research lab. There are many LHC Particle Accelerators worldwide. One of which is 6 miles from me here in Upton, New York, at the Brookhaven National Labs. See map for other Labs

Okay, thanks. What was it like growing up near there? Is it just apart of your area or is it different-ish? Several people have said the TN one interesting and different. 👀

Oh, I was hoping you’d chime in. I figured you’d know something or had been there. What makes it particularly interesting?
