I feel you. I grew up in the Cypress Street Projects in Oakland Ca. The only white family out of 920 apartments (The Orange doors lol). I had one friend that had a similar outlook on life like you do. He was ridiculed and called an Uncle Tom and we're talking the 70's. Went to a black owned restaurant w negro friend. My idea, thought the fried chicken would be amazing. No one would look me in the eye. Barely acknowledged me. It was blatant. Very friendly to my friend but not me. Food was trash. That day, I became racist.
