Differentiation is the study of change. The faster a function rises or falls, the larger its derivative. As the tangent line flattens, the derivative approaches 0, meaning the function stops changing for an instant. A tangent line follows the direction of the curve. Its slope tells you how the function changes, that slope is the derivative. A new face to my most famous visualization, this time, made with Umbra Beta.
