He used a leaf to cover my cut ..Primates are known to use leaves for many things (drinking cups, umbrellas, napkins), but using one as a "dressing" for a wound is next-level intelligence. Whether he was trying to stop the bleeding or just cover the "bright red spot" to protect me, this is a clear sign of empathy. He saw a problem and used a tool to fix it.
