India is the only country in the world where in a three year reference period the price of petrol & diesel has actually come down. This happened because PM Narendra Modi Ji reduced central excise on petrol & diesel on two occasions in November 2021 & May 2022; and BJP ruled states passed on the benefit to consumers by reducing VAT. While states with opposition govts, the party which makes so much noise on prices, on the other hand have increased their levies on fuel. They even increased the price of milk. They have never been serious about offering relief to the people. Prices of petrol & diesel even in India’s neighbouring countries are 15-25% higher than they are in India. Prices even in several other countries are much higher than they are in India.
