Different countries celebrate Easter Week in unique ways, but this seems deeply disturbing and evil to me.

You have lived a way too sheltered a life. I lived in Spain for a decade. Those religious procession are spectacular. Calling a procession of people wearing chains on their bare feet, covering their heads, and carrying heavy statues of Christ for miles through town on cobblestone roads is as far from evil as you can get. The ones in Madrid are unbelievable. Spain, if far more religious than the U.S. It isn't even close.

@LynneBP_294 Evil? It seems more like a Good Friday commemoration of Jesus' sacrifice. Good Friday is somber, not a celebration. Jesus had to give his life so we can celebrate the resurrection

You will see this up and down Central and South America, and it is awesome to see, but I never want to be one of the folks carrying the float. The stautues are likely hundreds of years old. The beauty is the people, schools, and the government can ability to openly celebrate Semena Santa, Easter, and their Christain faith. Unlike here in the US. We need more of this here.
