He boasts that the app is currently "a symbol of freedom of speech and there will never be censorship in the app." ▪️ Durov tries not to travel to major geopolitical powers (Russia, China, the US). ▪️ Telegram's office is located in Dubai (UAE) because of the country's political neutrality. Durov tried to open an office in Berlin, London and Singapore, but ran into bureaucracy everywhere. ▪️ Durov had the idea of staying in San Francisco. However, when he was returning home one day, he was attacked in the street by three unknown men and tried to snatch his phone from his hands. ▪️ Durov was pressured by the FBI in the States, and was met at the airport by secret service agents, who came to his home, wanting to "establish relations" in order to have "control over the messenger". The last time Durov came to the US with an engineer, the FBI tried to secretly recruit his employee. ▪️ Durov said his app is often used during protests - in Belarus, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and Barcelona.
