Once they get you to use it and it becomes convenient they will add more and more information to it. Then comes a social credit score attached to your ID, and we've seen how that works in China. We can't let it happen here! The only way we win is enough of us refuse to go along so the key is to warn everyone and spread the word. We must resist and refuse to go along!

The new Labour Minister, Liz Kendall, is already laying the groundwork for a national digital ID. She’s selling it as a simple convenience to end "password fatigue" for accessing public services. But listen to what she’s really saying. She frames it as a tool "for people who are here and working legally." The immediate, unstated flip side of that coin is the creation of a two-tier society. Your ability to work, access healthcare, or benefits becomes contingent on state-approved digital permission. This isn't just about convenience; it's about control. She explicitly ties it to "dealing with illegal working" and "illegal migration." The digital ID becomes the ultimate gatekeeper. No ID? No access. No rights. They call it a "key" for you, but it's really a lock for them. It’s a system that will inevitably be mission-crept from checking immigration status to monitoring your access to everything, creating a perfect architecture for social credit and surveillance. Other countries have tried this. We must look at what they’ve done: the security risks of a single point of failure, the inevitable data breaches, and the erosion of privacy and anonymous existence. This is the beginning of a digital prison, and they're trying to sell it to you as a key.

It is being reported that Keir Starmer has u-turned on compulsory digital ID. Yet the Labour government has admitted that digital ID is not being abandoned. Instead, they are watering down the word “compulsory” while still continuing to develop the framework and machinery for digital ID. It feels like the Labour government are trying to take the heat out of the huge opposition to digital ID and instead, nudge it forward and engineer digital ID under the radar. This cannot be allowed to happen. No one voted for digital ID. Keep the pressure up and hold the government to account. As I discussed with Ian Collins | Talk
