My understanding from the news, is that the dire wolf hasn’t been de-extinct. But rather a living species of wolf hasn’t had its genes alter to more resemble the genetic code of what we have of the dire wolf. True?

The gray wolf is the closest living relative of dire wolf. We analyzed the differences between their genomes (about 0.5%), identified where they differ, and then edited the gray wolf genome to reflect the dire wolf genomes we sequenced.

I think your research and technologies could also create replacement organs for those in need.. ie: Someone needs a kidney, make a clone kidney, etc
