Still energy is required to operate the slingshot. The slingshot is like the second stage of the rocket only It does go along with the first stage. This means you are still required to use a source of energy to get your satellite into orbit which is no different from a space x f9

Near Earth, collecting the sun’s energy makes sense. It’s free, and spacecraft use solar panels because there’s plenty of irradiance without the atmosphere blocking it. But the sun’s energy falls off with radius squared. It doesn’t take long before there isn’t much energy out there, and you have to bring your own. In space, mass is expensive, that’s the rocket equation, so high-energy-density fuel is exciting, and that’s what fusion enables. The challenge is if you make electricity from fusion using a steam cycle, you need something cool, a working fluid to dump heat into. In space, there’s nothing to cool against.
