pwede ba kalampagin natin ang gobyerno instead of romanticizing filipino resilience. our kababayans shouldn't be suffering through this in the first place. "diskarteng pinoy" na tila ba hindi tayo nagbabayad ng tax at hindi bilyon bilyon ang pondo para sa flood control projects.

philippine government & media really said: “let’s be the worst at disaster response, but make it look like pinoy resilience” “let’s romanticize casualties & call it ‘being creative during bagyo season’” better systems > sympathy better leaders > relief goods & condolences

Watch the politicians use this clip to the extreme saying stuff like “tatak pilipino!

VIDEO: Lagos Residents cry out as flood ravages communities Heavy flooding has wreaked havoc in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, displacing residents and submerging homes, vehicles, and properties. Several viral videos circulating on social media over the weekend have drawn public attention to the worsening situation, prompting urgent calls for government intervention. In one of the videos, a distressed woman could be heard speaking in Yoruba, pleading for help. “We are in Oko Ope in Ijede. Have mercy on us. This is our community. We can't even enter the house; the flood has damaged everything. I'm not even wearing footwear. Come and save us. Today is 4th of August, 2025. Come and rescue people,” she said. Another video showed the extent of flooding in the area, with homes and vehicles submerged in water. A male resident, lamenting the situation, said: “This is what I’m facing in my area in Ijede. From August 3rd to 4th, Monday morning, inside and outside my house is full of water. Big ocean. See cars inside water.” The Lagos State Government has acknowledged the situation and assured residents that a long-term solution is underway. In a statement, authorities emphasized their commitment to addressing perennial flooding in vulnerable areas across the state. Residents, however, continue to call for immediate relief and expedited infrastructure upgrades to prevent further disasters. Credit: X // tokunbo_wahab, ChuksEricE

Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña pointed out that the two highest budget lines under the unprogrammed appropriations are still mainly for infrastructure projects: Support to foreign assisted projects for 97.3 billion pesos; and Strengthening Assistance for Government Infrastructure and Social Programs (SAGIP) for 80.9 billion pesos. "Kung susumahin, halos 70% ng Unprogrammed Appropriations sa 2026 budget ay for infrastructure projects. We could have invested in health — pero lamang pa ng 3 billion ang Unprogrammed Appropriations kumpara sa DOH budget. We could have invested in education. Pero bakit puro infra pa rin?", he said. In previous years, SAGIP has been linked for the release of funds for controversial flood control projects. The budget sponsor, Rep. Mika Suansing, welcomed the call for the removal of SAGIP — but not yet of the entire unprogrammed appropriations budget. In response, Akbayan Rep. Cendaña called against the passage of the budget with the unprogrammed appropriations: "We have to zero out the Unprogrammed Appropriations budget until we ensure that our institutions are immune from corruption. Huwag na nating payagan na patuloy na abusuhin ang kaban ng bayan." Further, he noted the 4-year delayed allowances for healthcare and non-healthcare staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is also listed under the unprogrammed appropriations: "Inuna pang i-release ang flood control budget kesa bayaran ang mga healthcare workers na nagbuwis ng buhay noong pandemic." #AkbayanPartylist [𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘆: House of Representatives]

It’s time to call out the government on the flooding situation or we all suffer. This government never acts nor do anything until they hear the people cry and wail. Once the issue happens, and the people start screaming after the negative effect has been felt, they quickly run to work. no plan nor strategy in place to reduce the situation. It’s a Hopeless period !! This useless NDC Government has no clue how to deal with the flood situation in Accra and how to reduce the effect on the people. All governments have experienced flooding by the reason why the NDC especially under H.E John Mahama always experiences more devastating effect of flooding anytime they are in office, is because, this government is lazy and we have a very weak president. This government always sits down, do nothing, just talk talk talk until the rain sets in. Now the rains start and they are overwhelmed and have no idea how to react as the People suffer. Rawlings, Kuffour and Atta Mills, all experienced flooding but the difference is the effect and impact. The most devastating effect of flooding in our 4th republic is the June 3rd 2015 flood and fire. And in 2026, we are here experiencing probably the second worst after 2015 and again it’s the same group of people in charge. The difference is leadership, the difference between the previous governments and this current government, is that, the previous once would desilt, dredge, educate the public etc. weeks and months ahead of the rainy season. There would be flood but the effects comparatively, reduces. This government, will do nothing, move around with some machines, break one or two houses and put cameras and bloggers on them without doing the real work. We are here because we have a clueless bunch of arrogant braggarts in leadership and the situation is about to get worst.

BREAKING: A major flash-flood disaster has hit Nepal’s Rasuwa district, near the border with Tibet/China, after an event early Wednesday morning caused catastrophic flooding along the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi river systems. According to preliminary information presented by Nepal’s Foreign Minister, an earthquake struck the area at around 08:37 local time, apparently triggering an avalanche that then caused a sudden release of water and severe flash flooding. Authorities are still verifying the exact chain of events, so this remains preliminary. The flooding has caused major damage on both the Nepalese and Chinese sides of the border. On the Nepalese side, Rasuwa and Nuwakot appear to be among the worst affected areas. At least 17 people have been confirmed dead in Nepal, while dozens remain missing. Nepalese authorities say 26 police officers, nine Armed Police Force personnel and 44 military personnel are currently missing, alongside customs and immigration officials. The damage to infrastructure is extensive. Authorities report that at least 19 bridges and around 40 kilometres of roads have been damaged, while multiple hydropower projects have also been affected. The Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal says 13 hydropower projects in Rasuwa and Nuwakot were damaged. The important Rasuwagadhi border crossing with China has been closed, with reports that roads, bridges and customs infrastructure were swept away. More than 200 cargo trucks are believed to have been caught in the flooding, while many workers remain unaccounted for. There are also serious concerns about people trapped or missing at hydropower projects. Around 60 workers at the 20 MW Langtang Khola hydropower project in Syafrubesi have reportedly gone missing. The disaster is also affecting tourists. Nepal’s Tourism Board says 291 foreign tourists and 93 Nepali nationals were reported unreachable following the flooding. Rasuwa is an important route for pilgrims traveling toward Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet, as well as trekkers visiting the Langtang region. On the Chinese side, Chinese state media are reporting major casualties from a mudslide at a trade hub in Tibet, with President Xi Jinping ordering all-out search and rescue efforts and stronger monitoring to prevent secondary disasters. Nepal says it is coordinating with China as rescue operations continue. This is still a developing disaster. The number of casualties and missing people is expected to change as rescue teams reach areas that have been cut off, and the full extent of the damage is not yet known.

[ Field Footage ] 🚨 Continuous heavy rainfall in Guangxi has triggered widespread flooding across multiple areas. Several local reservoirs have successively faced critical situations, with the Liulan Reservoir in Hengzhou City developing an approximately 50-meter breach in its dam body. This has caused severe flooding in multiple downstream townships, sweeping away many people. According to survivors, people had long been aware of the dam’s precarious condition, but the authorities turned a blind eye and covered it up, ultimately leading to the dam’s collapse and a catastrophic flood that submerged the area. In other cases, reservoirs released floodwaters without issuing warnings, causing disasters. Commentator Wang Yajun analyzed: For nearly a decade, the Chinese Communist Party governments at all levels have habitually chosen to release floodwaters around 2 a.m. There are two reasons for this. First, it is easier for entire families — and even entire villages — to be wiped out while they are asleep, thereby eliminating any future troubles. Second, by the time it gets light, the work of destroying corpses and covering up the evidence can be largely completed, preventing the information from leaking out. This is an extremely sharp and incisive interpretation that exposes the evil essence of the Chinese Communist Party, which has always regarded human lives as worthless as blades of grass.
