The issue is that most people would prefer five low-quality T-shirts with different designs to one high-quality one. All the clothing I wear is plain black–no logos, labels, or other identifiable brand markings. In that setting, it’s natural to have a minimal set of requisite items and stay with that. So, the issue is that people never grow up from wanting to express themselves via clothing. 🤷‍♂️ Perhaps the real issue is that they stay expressible via clothing. And there's the issue of novelty. If one can’t generate novelty internally, one needs an external source.

@dieworkwear If most of the clothes end up being used for insulation, then... it is good, no? They are used after all. I don't really care if clothes are used as clothes or if they are a useful rag
