Do people know recycling is a scam?

For the record: I throw plastic stuff in the trash all time. It's cleaner than burning it and releasing toxic VOCs into the air.

Frankly, the best place for plastics is incineration for the purpose of making electricity. We put all of that energy into making complex molecules called plastics AKA organic compounds. Breaking those molecular bonds is more energy than most substances. Doing that cleanly should be our goal.

They lie to us about literally everything. It’s stunning.

People do a weird ritual of separating their trash because it allows them to generate 10X more trash, but they have no clue whether or not the recycled materials ever get used.

I work for a waste management co. 90% go to regular dumb. Just fleecing tax payers. Creating more pollution by adding more trucks for fake pickup. Double dipping.

Recycling ♻️ has been a scam since day one. It's nothing but a money laundering operation.

Learned this 20 years ago when I found out the separated recyclables from my house went directly from the dump transfer station to be buried in the county landfill in rural Western New York.
