Most people don't know the difference between skills, subagents, and MCPs. Here's the simple breakdown: Skills: Written guides that tell the LLM exactly how to do a task "Analyze spreadsheets this way" or "write emails in this voice" Reusable. Consistent output. Subagents: Extra copies of the LLM, each with its own job - You review code. - You write tests. - You update docs. Work happens in parallel. Stays organized. MCPs: - Universal power plug for external tools - Need to update Linear tickets? Access your database That's MCP. Think: - Skills = how to do something - Subagents = who does what (in parallel) - MCPs = what tools you can reach Play around with all three. That's where it clicks.

Do agents need skills? Here's 7,950 skills & workflows from GitHub mapped by what they actually do (out of 175,632 that I indexed). I ran evals on every skill: does it make the model's output better, or worse? Here's some findings👇

Agent Skills are organized folders that package expertise that Claude can invoke when relevant to the task at hand. I made a quick overview video comparing Skills to files, MCP servers, and Subagents. The bottom line: they make everything smarter!

Rules, commands, MCP servers, subagents, modes, hooks, skills... There's a lot of stuff! And tbh it's a little confusing. Here's what you need to know (and how we got here).

Claude Skills might be the biggest upgrade to AI agents so far! Some say it's even bigger than MCP. I've been testing skills for the past 3-4 days, and they're solving a problem most people don't talk about: agents just keep forgetting everything. In this video, I'll share everything I've learned so far. It covers: > The core idea (skills as SOPs for agents) > Anatomy of a skill > Skills vs. MCP vs. Projects vs. Subagents > Building your own skill > Hands-on example Skills are the early signs of continual learning, and they can change how we work with agents forever! Here's everything you need to know:

dbt Agent Skills are now open source. MCP gives agents access to dbt tools and governed context. Agent Skills teach them how to use those tools like a real dbt practitioner. Blog: Repo:

99% of AI engineers still don't know about Claude skills. Claude skills is how top engineers build AI agents now. I watched it last night. Halfway through, I realized I have been using Claude completely wrong for years.
