No their tongue is super long and wraps around their brain to protect it from vibration

Do you think DOGE is a hostile takeover of the US Govt?

Woodpecker's tongue is so long that it wraps around its skull to protect its brain from injury while pecking trees

They actually have a really cool way of preventing brain damage. Their tongues actually wrap fully around their necks, constricting blood flow to the brain and thus completely mitigating the sloshing of the brain.

Woodpeckers have evolved special adaptations to protect their brains. Their skulls have spongy bone structures that absorb impact, and their brains are tightly packed to minimize movement during pecking. Additionally, woodpeckers have a unique hyoid bone that wraps around their skull, acting like a seatbelt for their brain. This, combined with rapid pecking (up to 20 times per second), ensures they rarely suffer from headaches or brain injuries.

It’s actually their small brain size that protects them

"Woodpeckers have specialized skulls and shock-absorbing structures that prevent headaches, even after thousands of pecks per day!"
