Most certainly he should have. Julio clearly made the challenge right after he made the call for strike three, and the dumbass umpire didn't do it. The ump did his dramatic ring um up dance and Julio waited until the call was actually made… instantly tapped his helmet once he was officially rung up. This was a trash by the umpire.

I'm not a Mariners fan - of course he should have been allowed the challenge. The ump was hamming up his strikeout call - that was the delay, not Julio.

This is very clearly the umpire not wanting to be wrong. You make this type of animated call and the guy challenges before you finish your punch out, that's insane to say it's not in time.

It took around 2 seconds for the exaggerated showboat strike call and about a half a second for Julio to challenge and the dumb ass ump didn’t want to get showed up. Get rid of the umps.

His hand was going up to his helmet as he was putting his arms down from the punch out. Am I missing something? Do you need to challenge within two tenths of a second, or 2 seconds? Make it make sense.

Absolutely! The umpire did not grant J-Rod a challenge because he was challenging in the first place.The batter was waiting for the umpire to call the pitch which he rang him up and he immediately tapped his cap indicating a challenge the umpire was personal on that play.
