i’ve been using it for about a week now and genuinely can’t go back to the native dock.. revenue, music, timers, folders. everything is just there without interrupting what i’m doing :) i'll drop an in-depth video soon!

I have bought all the Dock apps available, and realized one thing. None of them truly replace your Dock. The Dock is essential in macOS, so you end up with two Docks running, which makes them obsolete. Now I see this one and find myself wanting to buy it, knowing I won't use it.

i've actually replaced the native dock with dockset for about a week now and haven't looked back! tried to replicate the important bits too: running apps, active indicators, the little bounce when an app launches, etc. hopefully one day macOS lets us fully nuke the native dock process so it can't interfere at all, but i hear you :)

Seriously gorgeous and very fair license pricing. DO you support custom widgets? I think the thing that would push me over the edge here is being able to create widgets to monitor my business KPI's, etc.

We need AI apps (Claude/Codex) as widgets here, with more controls. Like yesterday.

what kind of controls would you want to see in a Claude/Codex widget?

Prob 1: current task status. 2: quick controls if the chat is waiting for inputs. 3: context window/ usage limits Main pain point is to be able to orchestrate the tasks without switching the apps.

it's not a beta :) dockset is a fully released app, and it's a one-time purchase

The app demo on the website is amazing. It immediately shows the value of the product. I'm not a dock user, but I think you should add an extension store like Raycast does it, rather than building the widgets yourself. Also, assuming you're controlling the app icons, think about adding quick actions using deep links to the context menu.

you don’t have to use widgets at all! you can use it only for apps and save profiles so you can hot swap with a shortcut :)

I got so excited for a moments till I realized the functionality. What I really want is the ability to hover over app icon in my doc and see the available open Windows of that app to select between like done in the windows taskbar

Does the custom, personalized dock also controls what applications windows I see?

dockset only manages what's in your dock right now, not which app windows are visible on your screen switching docks won's move, hide, or close any of your open windows :)

ahhh too bad.. :( the real challenge is to be able to load certain windows, apps per workspace (dock).

sure thing let me try @benjaminakar as a curious product designer I tend to open many many windows in Dia for example. Some are related to projects work, some are visual reading lists, some are side projects. I imagine that dockset already has a very good foundation to be able to let me select certain windows, combination of apps and then tie them to a specific dock. as much as I enjoy exploring and opening a lot of things at once ( my MacBook is a beast). It also becomes quickly a bit stressful 😩 happy to jump on a short call to talk more if you want, next week for example.

A small utility with a clear job is often more valuable than a crowded replacement. The useful design question is what deserves a home in the dock — and what should stay out of the way.

This works the way it replaces the original dock with ur own custom implementation right? As far as I know u can't draw those widgets like that on original

yep! it’s a completely custom dock implementation. you can use it alongside the macOS dock, hide the native dock and only use dockset's custom dock, or use both you can also skip custom docks entirely and use dockset to create native macOS Dock profiles that you can swap with a shortcut, focus mode, or menu bar :)

Oh no I dig it. Did you do any benchmarks with your custom dock without the widgets?

not yet! but performance is super important to me since i use it all day myself i'll keep optimizing it as i go. any pain i feel, i'll fix :)

With both docks showing, an option to show them side by side would be pretty cool, if possible! Would need to be able to track the size of the native dock, I reckon.

I've been using Dockspace, but the issue with it is that it bleeds onto my MacBook display even though my external monitor is set as my main display. Does Dockset support proper multi-monitor behavior, where the dock stays on the display I pick?
