Catchers need to end this charade once and for all. Walk the runner back to the bag. Once the runner is on the bag call time out. If the umpire doesn’t grant time out, catcher stands an arms reach away from the bag. Stand there until the time limit for the game is up. As a coach I would slow play the ish out of this bush league bs. This ish only works for young players in the early development stages. Do you see this trash in High School baseball? No you don’t.

Pitcher covers home. 3b traps him off the base. Failing that I drill him as hard as I can.

No. Teach your pitcher to get his A$$ off the mound and either cover home or walk over and take ball from catcher.

Yep, I was the catcher with one of these bush league shows. Shame on the coach.. I finally got the runner farther off third and I ran him over before he could get back. The runner’s mom yelled at me, “you didn’t need to do that”.
