And then they blame the dust on other things, when it is construction and projects that are the most polluting. A law must be enacted that for 15-20 years no new building must come up in an area and then for 3-4 years construction (including interior work) is allowed and then repeat the 15-20 year moratorium, this is the only way forward in Mumbai.

Digging Up the Dirt: Exposing Mumbai's Road Scam My colleague, former corporator Mhatre Sheetal Ashok visits IC Colony, Borivali to audit an ongoing road concretisation project— only to uncover blatant violations of norms, road engineering principles, and basic common sense. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the same scam is playing out all across Mumbai. The Mumbai road concretisation scam is the biggest in the city's history. While alert citizens of IC Colony, along with Mhatre, have now forced BMC and its contractor to rectify defects, it’s time we've a citywide movement to hold this government, माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC, and their contractor friends accountable. What Mumbaikars feared the most, has come true. The first monsoon showers have wreaked havoc in Mumbai, exposing this MahaCorrupt Sarkar's Vinash model. Mr. Chief Minister, we had previously informed you about the rampant corruption and negligence that has plagued the nullah safai, road concretisation and other pre-monsoon works. But this was deliberately ignored. Today, with just the first showers of the monsoon, Mumbai has come to a standstill and tall claims made by the ruling regime stand exposed. Mumbai has been held to ransom by this corrupt regime and it's contractor friends. Look at what they’ve done to our beloved Mumbai. Today we saw: 👉 Several roads turn into mini-rivers. 👉 The Worli underground Metro station, inaugurated with much fanfare earlier this month, getting flooded 👉 Peak-hour traffic crawling 👉A newly laid road surface at Kemps Corner came undone in the very first downpour 👉Masjid Bunder and Wadala railway resembled water parks, while rail tracks at Bhandup, Matunga Road, Dadar, Kurla, and Sion were flooded — crippling all three railway lines. From Andheri Subway, Hindmata, and King’s Circle, to Dahisar, Dharavi, Parel, Chembur, and Mulund — severe waterlogging brought life to a standstill. At several places, officegoers were forced to wade through knee-deep water. The shame doesn't end there. Even Sir KEM Hospital was flooded, endangering the well-being and safety of patients. Shockingly, the road leading to Mantralaya, the seat of power, saw intense waterlogging— a damning symbol of this corrupt regime’s failure. 👉 Who will answer for the suffering? 👉 Who will be held accountable for the chaos, losses, and distress endured by Mumbaikars? CM Devendra Fadnavis must answer. Mumbai deserves better — not a regime that delivers disaster. #MumbaiRain #MumbaiMetro #CorruptionKiPolKhol #MahaBhrastYuti #MumbaiDeservesBetter Mumbai Congress Maharashtra Congress Congress AICC Communications Mumbai Youth Congress Maharashtra Youth Congress माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC Richa Pinto @claralTOI Pratip Acharya Yogesh Naik M.N.C.D.F Jeet Mashru Nayonika Bose Dipti Singh Raju Parulekar Priyamwada Rashmi Puranik मुंबई Matters™🇮🇳 Craters of Mumbai (Potholes ka Parivar) Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association (CCWA)

The mindless, unplanned, chaotic road digging in Mumbai has upended the life of lakhs of residents. The city now resembles an archaeological dig rather than a well planned metropolis. Only 266 road concretisation projects have been completed whereas 930 roads are dug up across the city. This has made daily commute miserable for Mumbaikars. Today, as part of our #NoCorruptionMeriGullyMein citizens' campaign, I visited Road No. 19 and 20 in Khar- a textbook example of the shoddy, unplanned work plaguing Mumbai. Shockingly, the work order for these roads was issued in January 2023, yet work only began in October 2024. Since then, progress has crawled at a snail’s pace. The deadline of May 2025 looms ahead and we will now see hurried, shoddy execution of work. Here is what we observed while walking through all the rubble lying around : 🚧 Roads have been dug up so recklessly that there is no space to walk. Many senior citizens reside here, and schools are nearby, yet no proper provisions have been made for pedestrians. 🚧 Work has been dragging on intermittently for months, with residents frequently facing water and electricity disruptions. 🚧 Some stretches have been half-completed, while the other half remains in a dangerously dug-up state, leaving no room to walk. 🚧 In some parts, one has to get inside the compounds of housing societies to be able to walk ahead, affecting privacy and safety of residents. 🚧 No responsible person was present at the site. The माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC had promised that engineers will be available on road concretisation sites but we didn't find anyone. My questions to the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC and this anti people government: 🚩 Mumbaikars were promised concretised roads by 2025, but all we are getting is dug up roads and chaos? While contractors have profiteered, Mumbaikars are enduring the pain? Who will be held accountable for these delays and the chaos? 🚩 Why should citizens put up with roads mindlessly dug up all across Mumbai? 🚩 Why is Mumbaikars tax money being wasted by digging, re-digging and patching up newly made roads? 🚩 Why are water and electricity connections being disrupted by contractors frequently without any consequences? Who takes responsibility for this? 🚩 Why aren't contractors being penalised heavily for delays and disruptions? 🚩 Why isn't the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC and the state government taking responsibility for the mess created? Why has no official been pulled up for this? Mumbaikars need answers, do not test their patience. #ReclaimOurRoads #MumbaiRoads #Mumbai #Concretisation #MumbaiDeservesBetter M.N.C.D.F Craters of Mumbai (Potholes ka Parivar) Roads of Mumbai मुंबई Matters™🇮🇳 Bandra Community bandranews_com Bandra Buzz Bandra Youth group

ATTENTION! There is GREAT debate whether Iran had a nuclear bomb or how close they were to possessing one. This SITREP addresses what it takes to build one and readers can then speculate whether Iran had one or not. That said (and let’s face it), this war between IS & IR is as much or more about regime change as it is about destroying IR’s ability to possess a NUC. First, the time to build a NUC bomb after highly uranium enrichment (HEU) depends on several factors, including the level of enrichment, the design of the weapon, technical expertise, and available resources (ALL OF WHICH IRAN HAD). Here's a breakdown: For a simple fission bomb, like what’s referred to as a "gun-type" design, HEU with at least 90% uranium-235 is typically required. If the uranium is already enriched to this level, the enrichment step is complete. My judgement is the Israelis assessed that Iran was likely at that level of enrichment and could not risk further development of a NUCLEAR BOMB. For a sophisticated state like Iran was, with enough HEU, technical know-how, and pre-existing infrastructure, a basic gun-type bomb (think WWII Little Boy or Fat Man) can be assembled in weeks. Essentially, the design of bombs like these is simpler, requiring less sophisticated engineering. And testing can be conducted deep underground. Some “experts” will argue Fat Man is more complex (that's true). Overcoming this requires precise engineering of components like the neutron initiator and explosive lenses (Iran likely has (or had) access to these type technical components). What’s Next (Steps post enrichment): 1. Material Fabrication: Shaping the HEU into the required form (e.g., a core or pit), which only takes days to weeks with proper equipment. 2. Component Manufacturing: Building other parts like the tamper, reflector, and detonators. This could take weeks to months, depending on the design and available technology (Iran was reported to be working on these for years). The sophistication of their ballistic missile capability allowed this type of technical testing & development. 3. Assembly and Testing: Integrating components and ensuring functionality. For a gun-type bomb, this is straightforward (days to weeks). For an implosion design, precision testing and machining could extend the timeline significantly (months). This above analysis assumes no major obstacles (like having your nuclear, engineering, and technical support facilities decimated by a severe Israeli bombing campaign). Other obstacles are political, logistical, or internal security constraints. All could extend timelines significantly. Additionally, some types of more modern nuclear weapons often involve more complex designs, and require further time for development and testing. AND, the deranged Iranian regime could care less about rules and norms or international law (or development & testing protocols of the IAEA for instance). They were already sponsoring terrorism globally (never mind in their own region). Bottom Line: Everyone that has been paying attention knows Iran has long wanted a NUC, they worked toward achieving one, they were very close, and as the leading nation for state sponsor of terrorism around the world, Iran could NEVER be allowed to possess a NUC. The regime said they wanted to annihilate Israel off the map!! That said, the problem isn't Israel, the problem is the tyrannical Iranian regime that has a death wish for its own people, its neighbors and anyone else who doesn’t believe in its way of life. The current Iran regime represents a global problem for all humanity. I support and will pray for Israel and the people of Iran. Donald J. Trump JD Vance Secretary Marco Rubio DNI Tulsi Gabbard Take a listen to this video from early 2017. Trump has been correct in his belief about no NUCs for Iran for a long time.

Nobody's talking about the Claude trick that fixes every Seedance 2.0 video mistake. A cinematic action scene, an animated sequence, a product ad, and a dialogue scene are completely different types of content. Different camera language, different pacing, different reference logic. Most people try to force all of it through one universal prompt. The fix turns out to be simpler than expected: Claude Skills. It's not some secret hack. It's a file of instructions you load into Claude for one specific type of task. Once it's loaded, Claude stops acting like a general assistant and starts thinking like an expert in that one niche — with its own set of rules for that scene type. Here's what that looks like in practice: ▪ Cinematic skill — generates real camera language: dolly moves, crane shots, rack focus, shot discipline across multiple cuts. Test: a medieval battle between two armies, 15 seconds, dark fantasy. Result — three shots with the shot logic of an actual film, not just "epic battle" typed as text. ▪ Animation skill — locks in style and physics before a single shot is built. One test: a rain-soaked shonen fight in the style of Tokyo Revengers. Another: a quiet Ghibli-style farm scene. Same skill, completely different visual output — because the style gets fixed at the very top of the prompt. ▪ Product ad skill — keeps the product front and center in every shot: clean hero framing, commercial lighting, a full product description built from the reference image before any shots are generated. ▪ Dialogue skill — this is where most people fall apart. Lip sync, emotional direction, shot structure, and audio cues all have to work together. Test: an interrogation scene with a fourth-wall break — and the moment landed exactly as written, down to the pause and tone. The core idea is simple: instead of writing a prompt from scratch every time and hoping for the best, you build one skill per content type — and Claude asks the right setup questions (genre, tone, shot count, camera energy) before generating a fully structured Seedance 2.0 prompt. One prompt template for everything is exactly why 90% of AI videos look the same. This 13-minute video is free, and it's more useful than a $500 course. With the renewed interest in 9/11, there are a lot of people new to the demolition theory. People often don't realize a lot of things about Building 7, which collapsed from fires hours after the North Tower (WTC1) dropped tons of burning debris against its south side. This is the view from the north, composited with a later street scene shot from the same camera but at a wider angle, for scale. You don't see that damage on the south side, but you see other things. First, notice how tall the building is. The cropped version of this video makes it look like a squat and solid box. But in reality, it was relatively tall and slender. Then, notice the penthouse, on the left, full of heavy equipment, and directly over the column with the longest span bracing supports. The column that is most vulnerable to losing those supports is the one that is most vulnerable to thermal expansion. The supporting girders get longer from the heat, which breaks the connections at the ends. The longer the support, the larger the expansion. Popular videos often start later, so you don't see this hundreds-of-ton penthouse fall all the way through the building, gutting the east (left) side. The Penthouse fell exactly as it would if column 79 had failed near the bottom, which simulations show is most likely. Then notice you can see the sky through the windows on the top left. The building has been hollowed out, and the collapse is progressing to the right. We see the parapet on the right start to fall. Then the whole building collapses. We don't see what caused this, but the building was fast becoming an empty tube with no internal bracing. The exterior was "moment resisting," so it held together like a sheet, but it buckled at the base. Once one column goes, the load is instantly transferred to others, and the collapse zips around the building. A buckled column is still steel, still gives tons of support. But the mass above it needs HUNDREDS of tons, so initially the fall is 99% of freefall, indistinguishable on this low resolution video. It falls in the direction of gravity, but the most damaged columns are in the south, so it tips a bit in that direction.

Why Is This Rotting Sears Still Standing? The billionaire who controls the property seems willing to wait for a market overcorrection, and city officials fear redevelopment By Jay Murray Jay Murray (JZ DeLorean) Livonia — Some in this city view capitalism with suspicion, much to the distress of Livonia’s city officials, entrepreneurs, and business interests. Meanwhile, a giant monolith looms over the city, the empty and decaying relic once called Sears. Formerly the anchor of the mostly forgotten Livonia Mall, the massive building sits on a plot of over 16 acres of unused land. Rarely is this rotting behemoth discussed, and inquiries with city officials result in frustrated sighs and quick declarations of “That’s private land, we can’t do anything about it.” The location is, in fact, a big problem due to its rapid decay and because the building is not fully secure. Last year, Michigan Enjoyer revealed homeless people living in and around the structure, using it as a safe haven from the weather and other dangerous persons. The owner of the building is, like the structure, immovable. On paper, it is owned and managed by a privately-held corporation named ESL Investments. The property is controlled by former SEARS Holdings CEO Eddie Lampert, a billionaire businessman and hedge fund founder, known more famously as a contrarian investor. Lampert buys undervalued or depreciating assets and waits, and waits, and keeps waiting, for what is anyone’s guess, but common sense dictates a market overcorrection. Lampert took the investment world by storm in 2004 and eventually took ownership stake in Sears and Kmart, merging both companies in a successful takeover. The first founder to make $1 billion in a year, his investment model was the toast of Wall Street, but the 2008 financial crisis severely impacted his portfolio and ill-timed investment in Citigroup further dimmed his rising star status. With Sears and Kmart failing nationally, he took the reins and named himself CEO in 2013. His financial remodeling of Sears Holdings failed to save the once mighty American company and may have hastened the decline. Sears in Livonia officially closed in April 2020 and only five locations remain in operation today, with Lampert shuttering, closing, and strategically selling off various properties under the ESL Investments banner. Here’s where the speculation begins on his motive. Michigan Enjoyer spoke with experts who floated the notion Lampert was intentionally managing the decline. Under his leadership, Sears shredded employees, performed no ostensible store maintenance, and appeared willing to allow the properties to decline in value as the company lost more than half its market share. So Livonia’s empty Sears building is stuck in a state of perpetual limbo. Lampert has attached unusual caveats to the property itself, such as a 30-day closing demand, making it virtually impossible for another developer to purchase the property. Why? The Enjoyer received no response from ESL Holdings, but experts in commercial real estate and investments believe Lampert, like other contrarian investors, buys deprecating real estate with declining taxable value and waits out the market for buyers to come in willing to pay ten, fifteen, twenty times the value of the property. Folks like him are willing to wait for years. The building is worthless at this point, a tear-down that might cost several million dollars. Any interested developer—and there’s been at least one, according to sources in City Hall—would have a major expenditure in not just the demolition, but land remediation. Those are the hard facts, but city officials are already lamenting even the idea of redevelopment, with one city official stating: “The Sears at 7 & Middlebelt is going to be the one. The shit is most certainly going to hit the fan.” One would think an enormous empty building serving as a rat’s nest of nefarious activity requiring police manpower might spark a YIMBY moment, but prospective car washes and gas stations ignite protests here. Why? Because, according to one local business leader: “Many long-tenured and older residents worship empty buildings as a form of crippling nostalgia.” But even more ominous is the pessimism around economic growth and an adherence to central planning as a means to limit and or stifle economic competition. Exhibit A is newly elected city council woman Eileen McDonnell, who openly lamented the notion of new car wash possibly pulling customers away from long-established car wash elsewhere in the city. Yes, you read that right. One day, maybe even tomorrow, Lampert will find his buyer with a plan for redevelopment. Odds are likely given the location and proximity to Walmart another consumer-based enterprise will look to set up shop on that pad, and the fight by locals to save an empty Sears building will commence.

In the attached video, the one filmed far from home, you can hear the weight of a whole country sitting on one man’s lungs. A liberation war veteran, a man raised inside the language of command, looks into a phone camera like it is a witness box and a confessional at the same time. His voice is not theatre, it is pleading. Not for sympathy, not for a post, not for safety. For intervention. He calls out to the Vice President as if calling out to the last switch before a national blackout, “Step in. Do something. Zimbabwe cannot be mutilated like this.” What makes that plea haunt you is not the politics, it is the naked surrender of pride. This was not a man born in opposition chants. This was a man who could have stayed quiet, stayed comfortable, stayed protected by the very corridors he later condemned. Instead he chose exile, and in South Africa he became what so many of our people become when they cross borders, a stranger with an accent, a kwerewere, a person whose identity is reduced to paperwork and suspicion. He carried that indignity on purpose, because he believed the indignity back home was worse, the slow shredding of a constitutional promise, the normalisation of theft, the worship of impunity. Then the country did what it often does to its loudest messengers, it watched, it argued, it joked, it waited. Blessed “Bombshell” Geza died in Johannesburg on February 6, 2026, in exile, after illness, still wanted back home, still polarising, still unwilling to recant. (News24) Four days later, on February 10, 2026, Zimbabwe’s cabinet backed draft constitutional changes that would, among other things, extend presidential terms from five years to seven, and shift the election of the president from a direct popular vote to Parliament, all wrapped in the language of “stability” and “policy continuity.” (Al Jazeera

🚨 GEARS OF WAR E DAY OPINION!...🚨 Everybody keeps asking me Where is Gears of War E Day, where is the Gameplay, Release Date, New Trailer, anything seeing as how we are almost four months in to 2026 and I would say the Answers can be found in the Past to Reveal the Future, if your confused you haven't been paying attention!... 👀💥⚙️ In October 2023 I was the first to report on the sixth mainline Gears of War game an Unnannounced Coalition game was set to release sometime in 2026 and 3 years later it looks to finally be happening! 👀😱⚙️ I also discussed a Gears of War Direct show focusing on a deep dive into the new game after Xbox began yearly dedicated game shows! 🧐🤯⚙️ Then on September 20th 2025 after the release of Gears of War Reloaded I uploade a Youtube video discussing my own personal opinion that if there is no E Day at the January 2026 Developer Direct, then it would likely be the Xbox Games Summer Showcase E Day Direct, which again Playground Games were the focus with Fable & Forza Horizon 6 & if we look at Gears of War E Day it is the only Xbox Games Studio first party title confirmed for a 2026 release with zero gameplay shown, no exact release date window & we are already almost four months into the year there must be a reason for that... 🤔🎮⚙️ This is why I have believed since 2023 that the best way to celebrate Gears of War E Day and also the franchise 20th annviersary is with a dedicated E Day Direct show that potentially based on Xbox announcement last year could be announced as early as April 7th/14th if the Xbox Games Showcase were to be happening on either Sunday June 7th or 14th! 🫡🔥⚙️ It is very frustrating that there is no Gears of War E Day marketing happening right now I wish I had more to cover for content & to help build community engagement & hype but there must be a plan for why it looks like we may just have to wait until the Xbox Games Showcase in June for Gears of War Re-Emergence to finally begin, just a little more patience we are almost back Gears Fam! 🙏🤞⚙️

This might be the best "AI Engineer" I've tried so far. I'm an old school developer who started 30 years ago. I feel very uncomfortable letting AI take control of my code, but for the sake of science, I spent two hours building an application that took me weeks to build a couple of years ago. I used Pythagora, a brand new tool backed by Y Combinator. They just released to the public. Keep in mind that I use AI every day to write code, but Pythagora is something different: it's a tool that leads, and uses you—the human—as the copilot. I go into more details in the video, but here is the TLDR; 1. Holy molly! We've made a ton of progress on this front! This is way better than Devin when I tested it a few months back. 2. Love the approach of generating a plan with sub-tasks before writing any code. 3. The tools never tries to do too much: it tackles every small task one at a time, and gives you instructions so you test everything. 4. It does exactly what you'd do when it gets stuck: writes a bunch of logs and uses those to correct itself. Pretty neat! 5. It's fast. It runs locally. It's an extension to Visual Studio Code. I'm impressed, but I don't think this tool is for me. I'm not the type of developer who's ready to relinquish control. I felt I had no connection with the code because I didn't write it. It was not my code. I know many people who don't care about this. I know many people who will get tremendous value out of Pythagora. I hope they keep pushing the limits, providing feedback, and helping this get to a point where old folks like me feel more comfortable using it. Don't take my word for it. The best thing you can do is to give it a try and see how you feel using it. Thanks to the team who built this, for all of the explanations and support, and especially, for sitting and listening to my dumb questions for 2 hours while I tested this.

I think some of you were shocked too, except for the people whispering in the front, cause he warned you he was gonna walk away. ‌ You wanna know why? Our voices. He wants to silence us every time. He does not listen. I am asking all of you at this table to make sure he listens. But we know very well that you guys, as the third largest stakeholders this state, do want that land and can take it when you deem it a natural disaster. And that is disgusting. And that is why I'm also here today, because someone needs to call that out. We wanted in. ‌ I know it says on there on the door there is no black cards or no signs but isn't that very uh so so much contradictions that you can't have a sign you can't have a voice they're like loopholes on paper written by developers and those that are in charge that make the decisions for the state for the different counties i've been in this meeting and i've heard developers say the loopholes they know how to work around it paper to get things passed through. President Donald Trump is destroying the global economy, according to the media, Democrats, Europeans, and libertarians. The stock market is crashing. His administration is randomly and arbitrarily imposing tariffs, they say. And his tariffs are on the verge of causing a self-destructive global trade war. But policy should not be based on the daily movement of the stock market. The tariffs are not random or arbitrary but instead are based on a publicly released formula. And a trade war will lead to a much better outcome than the path Americans have been on. So says Oren Cass , founder of the think tank American Compass and one of the leading advocates of Trump’s nationalist economic policy. Based on Cass’s resume, one would predict him to be a Never Trump Republican, not a MAGA Republican. He is a Harvard Law graduate who worked at Bain & Company and became the Domestic Policy Director for Mitt Romney at the shockingly young age of 29. Romney, one of the most high-profile Never Trump Republicans, was also highly concerned with China. “I was working on trade policy for him and brought him the very standard, ‘Here's what a Republican says about trade’ starting point. And he said, ‘This is all fine. But what are we gonna do about China?’ “I remember the other economist was like, ‘What kind of question is that? We don't do anything about China.’ Romney was a very non-ideological, pragmatic guy with a business background. He said, ‘That's ridiculous. This is completely broken. What are we gonna do?’ “And I had the privilege of being sent off to find an answer for the candidate, at which point I discovered that the entire right-of-center ideological orthodoxy and the entire economics profession refused to engage with or think about this at all, even though it was a very real problem.” In our conversation, Cass debunked claims that Trump’s tariffs were arbitrary and said they demonstrated bad faith on the part of the people claiming to have debunked them. “My sense is that a deputy press secretary gave a confusing answer to a question,” Cass said. “The US Trade Representative's office has put out a whole detailed explanation of this, with the formula they used and the sources that they used. It's a PDF you can download from the US Trade Representative's website. “If you're somebody whose goal is to just embarrass the administration and confuse people, then you find a confusing statement from a Deputy Press Secretary and say, ‘Oh, see, nobody knows what they're doing.’” Cass pointed to people claiming it was strange for there to be tariffs on small nations. “I think there has been a lot of very bad faith criticism and intentional pretend confusion for the sake of fomenting a narrative among people who should know a lot better,” he said. “One example of this is whatever random island that only has penguins on it that people are upset about. Like, ‘Oh, like why do they have a tariff rate for this island with these penguins on it?’ “The answer is because US trade policy is done through a very formal mechanism called the harmonized tariff schedule, which defines the exact set of territory for which you have to have tariff rates and the exact set of products for which you have to have tariff rates. And it's a very granular set of territories and it does have random islands and so forth as entries on the list. And so if you're going to then announce what the tariffs are by territory, you're gonna have something for the islands on the list, right?” Another piece of misunderstanding Cass was on the idea of “reciprocal tariffs. “There was certainly a communication challenge in calling them reciprocal tariffs,” said Cass, “which people understand to mean ‘Whatever they do to us, we do to them.’ We're sort of holding up a mirror. But there was plenty of messaging for a couple of months leading up to this that what they meant by reciprocal was more like proportional, that it was going to be in relation to the size of the imbalance that we have with the other countries. I wrote a long thing in February walking through what they seem to mean and how it might look.” People are playing dumb, in other words. “They did a like, ‘We just can't figure this out. This must be some crazy mistake.’ It’s people who, politely, are not trying very hard to figure it out and are well-served by claiming it can't be figured out when, in, when in fact it can.” Trump’s tariffs will likely bring back high-wage manufacturing jobs just like Reagan did when he demanded Japanese car companies manufacture in the U.S., explains Cass... Tim Walz’s Hunting Gaffe Explained:🧵 I’ve done a lot of pheasant hunting. As a high schooler, I made extra $ assisting guides on pheasant hunts: getting the hunters in the field, flushing game for them to easily shoot, and making sure they are safe. And much more since those days. You learn to spot the guys who are a potential danger to themselves and others. Everything about them is new: the shotgun, the gear, the clothing. They look like they’ve just stepped out of an LL Bean catalog. This isn’t meant as a criticism. But if you’re leading the hunt it’s a visual clue that he’s probably new to this and, in his excitement, he went to his local hunting store bought all the gear in an effort to look like one of the guys. It tells you to keep an eye on him and to be ready to offer quiet instruction so as not to embarrass him. I don’t fault Walz for clearly being inexperienced with firearms and hunting. Anyone who is proficient in either had to learn sometime. For most of us, I think, the scorn heaped upon him is due to the fraudulent nature of it all. What VP candidate takes a day off to go hunting? Well, they don’t unless they see it as a photo op. Dems realize Americans think Walz is a beta male weirdo, so some campaign genius said, “I got it! He’ll go hunting! He’ll look manly!” With the exception of “The Natural,” I generally hate sports movies because the lead actor usually looks like he’s never played sports in his life. Watching Walz handle a shotgun is like watching Keanu Reeves throw a football in “The Replacements.” It’s painful. (Robert Redford was believable as an aging baseball player because he clearly played the game as a boy. Same with Kevin Costner in “For the Love of the Game.”) In this video, Walz appears to be having difficulty loading his shotgun while on a pheasant hunt. He tells the reporter, whose questioning tone suggests she’s not buying any of this, that it’s a Beretta A400. The A400 is a semi-auto shotgun. Many guides don’t allow semi-autos on a hunt because they can’t see at a distance that you’re “safe.” A break-action double-barrel is therefore preferred since they can tell when your gun cannot be fired (be it loaded or not). This is because the barrel is on a hinge that “breaks” open to permit manual loading. And this is very important for safety. I would wager that most accidental shotgun deaths involve semi-autos. This is all the more important in pheasant hunting. Unlike, say, deer hunting where you might sit in a tree all day long by yourself, pheasant hunting is typically done in large groups where the hunters are arranged in a crescent and marched through a field toward “blockers,” that is, hunters who stand still in a line. The idea is to drive the birds into the blockers and force them to flight. Hunting in such close proximity with other hunters can be dangerous for a variety of reasons: the birds fly parallel to the ground at head level, excitable hunters start blasting away at everything that moves or don’t wait for the birds to reach a safe height, accidental discharges, etc. A guide wants to see that your weapon is open and therefore inoperable in all but the hunt. The loading port on the A400 is beneath the weapon near the trigger guard. This type of loading is an acquired skill, and Walz doesn’t have it. (I’ll add that Walz says he bought it for trap shooting. In this he is correct. I wouldn’t want to use an A400 pheasant hunting. It’s not a field gun. It’s heavy. But it’s excellent for clays.) He fumbles around and, sensing he’s making a fool of himself, he appears to stop before he’s managed to get it loaded. As you can see, this carefully choreographed hunt wasn’t so carefully choreographed. It’s become Tim Walz’s Michael Dukakis-in-the-tank moment. It’s also noteworthy that in this gaffe Democrats, for all their faux rage about “toxic masculinity,” unwittingly pay homage to masculinity and its appeal. They do know what it is. They just don’t know how to practice it.
