This is just common sense. You have to drop your hands to launch angle a ball. You simply don’t have time to go down and back up again with your hands on pitches north of 85 mph.

Controlled aggression and purpose behind every swing. Don’t just push the ball around the field. But don’t swing max effort trying to hit pull-side home runs every round of BP either. MLB hitters are the strongest and most physical players in the game. They could launch balls out all day if they wanted to. Yet the great ones understand that batting practice is about building a swing that performs in games. Watch hitters like Miguel Cabrera. Sure, they hit some out, but they aren’t constantly hooking and top-spinning balls to the pull side. They’re hunting backspin and driving the baseball with authority. Controlled aggression and driving the ball to the opposite-field gap helps hitters stay on fastballs to all fields, avoid pulling off, and buy time to adjust to off-speed pitches and breaking balls. Many amateur hitters struggle with both because they train their swing to look good in BP, not perform in games. They become one-dimensional. Be a mature hitter. Train for game performance, not batting practice applause.

I got to meet him in the special teams room before we went out to practice. Asked him how Huff, Dre, and DJ were doing. Then we out and watched him practice and right away you could tell… I felt pretty excited with what we got. You never know when you get a guy off someone else’s practice squad. A lot of infielders are scared of the short hop. Great infielders create it! Here are some keys to playing the short hop: 1️⃣ Move your feet The closer your glove is to the ball, the less that can go wrong. Move your feet to catch the ball as close to the ground as possible 2️⃣ Play from the ground up Playing under the ball softens our hands and allows us to play through it 3️⃣ Practice away from the field To get really good at fielding (or anything) you need to put in hours and hours of practice. There is not enough team practice time to get in the reps you need to play at a high level. You must take what you learned at practice and work on it at your house. The garage, basement, driveway, or backyard. Reps build trust. 4️⃣ Someone is always working It’s a big world. If you aren’t consistently sharpening your game, someone else is.

Josh Hokit offers an interesting theory on what went wrong for Ilia Topuria: "Topuria makes the mistake of... he beats up his teammates, and so now the teammates fear him, where now he's not getting a certain look. That's the downfall of Topuria. If you're always hitting people in the liver, you're always dropping your teammates, the teammates are kind of shelled up. They're scared to hit you because, rightfully so, no one wants to be dropped in practice. You want a healthy balance in practice where the guy is still trying to test you, so you have to practice your defense. I think that's why his distance and timing were off, because of that."

This is what I be talking about. You can't just develop at practice, you gotta find them game reps. A lot of coaches are waiting to see a polished product in practice and if they don't they hit the portal for a player with more reps elsewhere.

lin and fan shared some behind stories from the f4 challenge 🥹 👤 recently you two filmed a challenge with jiahao and anxin, the fans all really liked it. i heard anxin almost cried, saying that it felt like returning to the practice room in the past. when filming, was there any moment that made you feel like you’ve returned to the past, and is there anything from your trainee days that is particularly memorable to this day? 🐈‍⬛ when we got to the practice room, we might have to check the dance moves, since it’s our choreography, so we’d definitely be more familiar with it. when i was teaching anxin, it brought back memories of how we used to practice together in the practice room in shanghai. because back then i learnt dance longer than anxin, so i would practice with anxin. 🐈‍⬛ at that moment, the memories just flooded in at once. i also felt extremely touched 🍪 when we just got to the practice room, anxin said eating together is okay, but the 4 of them together looking in the mirror and practicing made him want to cry. like he was back in the practice room in shanghai. he got emotional! it was 11pm then, definitely the time for anxin to get sentimental
