I still believe that calling off the negotiations with the U.S. was a mere stunt by the Liberal government that was meant to enhance its popularity further. Mark Carney is unpredictable, and who knows why he did that? He might be preparing for a surprise general election to seek an outright, sweeping mandate from Canadians to replace his current ‘stolen’ majority.

I think that was a subliminal message. Probably has something to do with the Canadian bank sanctions that are rumored to be coming, and it likely will result in a trade agreement.

When the deal is done, how is Carney going to convince hate-filled Canadians that Americans actually are their good friends and neighbours? He might have pushed it too far, and they are not going to pivot as usual like obedient little pawns. This is a bad take, Brian. 1. He always says that a deal is coming with nearly every dispute. It never happens. 2. It sounded like he didn’t hear the USMCA question properly and tried to answer it based on what he did hear.
