Done and dusted. The secret? There is another hole on the container which he's using his thumb to block. As soon as he lifts his thumb away from the hole, air enters through the hole and the water starts dripping. The side hole is the “air door.” Air rushes... show more

City of Harare admits air can trigger water meter charges The City of Harare and Helcraw Water say prepaid water meters work the same way as ordinary water meters. They say the meters are not faulty. According to the statement, when there is air trapped in water pipes after events like burst pipes, repairs, or when the water supply is restored, that air can pass through water meters and cause them to record water use even though mostly air is flowing. The city says this is a known challenge that affects both prepaid and conventional water meters, and that current technology cannot always tell the difference between water and large amounts of pressurised air. Residents are advised to close their taps immediately if only air is coming out and report the problem to the City of Harare or Helcraw Water so technicians can fix it. The city also says it is installing air release and pressure relief valves across the water network to reduce trapped air, improve the water system, and minimise incorrect meter readings caused by air. It says it remains committed to providing a reliable and transparent water supply.

🌍 Amazing animation from Copernicus showing the Antarctic ozone hole in 2025 Every year, a “hole” forms in the ozone layer over Antarctica because of human-made chemicals like CFCs. These chemicals release chlorine high up in the atmosphere, which destroys ozone. During the Antarctic winter, the air gets very cold and is trapped by the polar vortex, allowing chlorine to build up. When the sun returns in spring, this chlorine becomes active and quickly eats away at the ozone. The hole usually reaches its biggest size between September and early October, then starts to shrink by November as ozone-rich air comes back in. Good news: In 2025, the ozone hole has been smaller and lasted for a shorter time than in many recent years — showing that efforts like the Montreal Protocol are helping our planet recover! 💙

NEW: California's giant 'Glory Hole" has been turned on for the first time in six years. Wow, very cool. The massive hole, which is located at Lake Berryessa in Napa County, CA, is now active thanks to recent heavy winter rain. The hole was turned on thanks to six inches of water that exceeded the height of the rim. The water will now make its way to Putah Creek. The Morning Glory spillway is a "release valve" for the reservoir that gets triggered when water levels exceed 440 feet so the dam doesn't overflow. The "glory hole" is 72 feet wide.

A pickle jar can function as a tiny jet engine. The setup is simple: a glass jar with a small hole in the lid holds a volatile fuel like methanol, which evaporates to create a fuel and air mixture inside. A flame brought to the hole ignites it, and the cycle begins. Here is what happens in each pulse. Combustion sends a sharp pressure spike through the jar, forcing hot gas out the lid hole as thrust. The escaping gas creates a brief partial vacuum inside, which pulls fresh air back in through the same hole. Residual heat ignites the new mixture automatically, and the cycle repeats dozens to hundreds of times per second. The jar and hole act as a resonant cavity, which is why it pulses instead of burning steadily. A single opening cannot handle exhaust and intake at the same time, so the system locks into a natural rhythm. It produces almost no real thrust, but it is a clear window into how actual pulsejet engines work, and the physics on display are the same ones used in real aerospace propulsion. Follow for more!

A boy named Jordan was entrusted with taking care of a bell pepper sapling that was recently planted by his mother. The sapling had 2 leaves when it was planted. In a few days a few more leaves came out. "Mom, the plant has 5 leaves now", Jordan ran inside shouting. Jordan was very possessive about the plant. It is about a foot tall now. He did not allow any insect, worm or bug to come close to it. There was a tiny ant hill near the plant. He smashed it and closed the hole. Next day, the hole again appeared. He closed it again. The hole reappeared. Jordan was tired of closing it. He left it as it is. One day while playing with his friends, one of the marbles fell inside the hole. He poked inside with his stick but couldn't find it. Next day as he was playing, he saw the marble coming up the hole. He thought it's magic. After a few seconds he saw ants pushing the marble up the hole. Jordan thanked the ants. The queen ant who was overseeing it, quipped, "Don’t mention it." Jordan was surprised listening to ants talking. "Please do not throw the marbles into our tunnels. It was blocking air from our AC," requested the queen ant. Message of the story? Ant tunnels enhance water infiltration and circulate air in the ground which is beneficial not only to the soil, but plant roots as well. Ants also help with pollination by crawling over one flower to another; in the home and outside, ants are natural pest control agents for termites. #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #SaveSoilFixClimateChange #SoilForClimateAction

a shape with no inside. he filled it with water anyway pour water in and it stops almost immediately. the air has nowhere to escape, so it just sits there blocking you. tilt it and you get a little more in, then it blocks again so he put the whole thing in a vacuum chamber turn it on and the bottle starts bubbling. that's the air being pulled out through the neck, leaving as close to nothing inside as he can get then he lets the pressure back in, and the water rushes up into the empty space on its own still not full. so he runs it again, rarefying the smaller pocket of air that's left, and again after that here's the part that breaks your head: for a shape to have volume, it has to split the world in two. a ball does that. stretch it however you want, there's always a world inside and a world outside a Klein bottle has no such line. follow its surface and you never cross a boundary, never pass through a wall, never end up anywhere that isn't the same side you started on the inside is the outside. so there's nothing there to fill he filled it anyway that's the same shape as the room below. no plot, no payoff, just a question your brain won't drop -> can a thing with no inside hold anything at all two videos, two impossible questions, 20 million views between them. While Zelensky sells fairy tales to the sheikhs about his “miracle interceptors”, the Geranium-4 speeds through layered air defenses and methodically takes out energy infrastructure. Its maneuverability is brutal. The result is on the ground. And all those praised air defense systems can only watch as another oil refinery burns.

When you flush, water flows down and drags air inside the pipe. Bubbles form, and the flow becomes unstable. This creates a partial vacuum in the system. That vacuum starts pulling air from the toilet itself. That’s why you hear that “glup” sound and even get gas backflow. Now, when the system has proper venting, everything changes. Air enters through the vent pipe and balances the pressure. Flow becomes smooth, with no bubbles or interruptions. No vacuum, no suction, and proper drainage. That small pipe is what prevents the entire problem.

As we see videos circulate online of Israeli airstrikes inside Iran, I would remind people about what the German Air Force chief said of Israeli Air Force strikes targeting Hamas in Gaza. The German Air Force chief went to Israel and reviewed their military plans, reviewed all the protocols they go through before every strike. As we do here in America, Israel has lawyers who review every strike for legality before it's conducted. And the German air chief said it is the most moral air force in the world. Israel has done more, he said, to preserve innocent Palestinian lives than any other air force would do in the circumstances. And we know that from the facts that have come out. Israel sends hundreds of thousands of text messages, issues hundreds of thousands of leaflets and flyers, issues maps on all of its websites which show the Palestinian civilians which areas will be attacked at which days and on which times. I was a football player. When you're on offense, surprise is the name of the game, and that's no less true in the military. Israel has relinquished the power of offensive surprise in order to preserve innocent Palestinian lives by telling Hamas exactly where it means to assault before it issues its orders. It has done so at great cost to the lives of its own soldiers in order to preserve and protect innocent Palestinian lives. What other country in the world would do that?

Canadian Fireworks.❤️ When it is -30°C or colder you can chuck boiling water into the air. Due to many factors such as the air being “full” due to the cold, tiny ice particles floating in the air, and the surface area of dispersed water you get this gorgeous display.
