Watching them fly was such a treat. He’s exactly right. Let me immerse myself into this extraordinary world. Let me explore it. The door is barred to cynics and to the sorry lot who have lost their sense of wonder.

This. This moment right here is when Neytiri fell in love with Jake. I didn’t actually notice this until this year. The best movies are those that you understand even more when you get older. Along with James Horner’s beautiful score, it is one of my favorite scenes in Avatar.

Cameron is a fxxng movie god. Other great, successfull and famous directors are on that level bc they stayed in their "genre. Cameron made Terminator, Titanic, Aliens, Abyss, wrote the first Rambo, etc. And ofc he won all those little battles with the exec people...(read his bio!)

He has a great point- Avatar 2 is my favorite movie theater experience ever & a big part of it is the types of scenes he's talking about, which are enhanced by how great he is at visuals/world building I think that often gets lost on people eager to dunk on his scripts/dialogue

Corporate thinking isn't creative thinking. This is the difference when a commercial movie feels like art or a product.

I got immersed in the scenes where Jakes Kids try and figure how to live in the ocean and the scenes with Payakan are *chef's kiss*

A principle of art vs. content. The artists want to create, the publisher wants to produce. It’s a balance more publishers need to respect.

I can't even remember the scene he's talking about.

🎯

Studios are stupid not to trust the artist. They are nothing without the artist's vision. If they don't let the artist make it the best way the artist wants it, the studio is working hard to make their product worse than better.
