Many women opposed a prenup, which banned alimony, maintenance and dowry for any spouse. They believed that only women should decide whether they want alimony. Men should have no say in it whatsoever. 2.

In fact we should call alimony as reverse dowry, earlier was enforced by societal pressure, current is enforced by nazi courts, if dowry was wrong why not finding a groom with better than girls standard should also be wrong and equal standard marriage makes sense

Unless there is a pre-nup agreement recongnised by courts, there is no meaning of verbal agreements. Unfortunately, this alimony business is spoiling the social fabric nd getting married is riskier than the riskiest trade in stock market. Govts are looking d other way as its the time to woo women voters. Its sad reality but next generation will find it normal to have pre-nup, which means marriage is just a contract.

Girls parents themselves offer dowry if their daughter is not working….they ask boys paternal property, no of siblings etc apart from his salary. They offer it considering marriage a trade and in today’s times, this can’t be ignored.

Just for having this conversation, the groom's side could be in jail. And that "agreement" being discussed, hs no value in court if the couple splits up. There are plenty of cases where even written settlements were disregarded by courts. Closing down ATMs is bad for the economy!
