OpenAI's Deep Research is getting a run for its money. Deep Lake was just released, and it's a different take on an AI system that can do deep research on your own data. You can use Deep Lake to build AI search with reasoning on your private and public data. (Look at the attached videos to get an idea of how it works.) If you want to research proprietary and sensitive data, Deep Research won't help you because it's limited to public data. Deep Lake, however, will allow you to use your private data. On top of that, Deep Lake supports multi-modal retrieval from the ground up. It uses vision language models for data ingestion and retrieval so that you can connect any data (PDFs, images, videos, structured data, etc.) You can even use mixed-data queries! Deep Lake can search your data from S3, Dropbox, and GCP. It learns from your queries over time, making the results as relevant to your work as possible!

Turned 24 today by completing an epic 1300km journey on a motorcycle riding across ladakh. All I can say is - if you’re in your 20s, just pack that bag every few months and go on epic adventures you wouldn’t be able to when you grow old my man. got approached by so many uncles in their 40s and 50s looking at the bike with fascination. the teenage boy in them was excited to see the motorcycle, they were doing the same route, just with a car and a driver and a family they had to look after the entire time. you could sense the longing for something like this in their eyes and their voice. you will never have less responsibilities and more time in the future. actively and consciously shape the life you wanna live. go on more adventures. go take more risks. go solo if you don’t have friends who can come with you. go live a life ur actively proud off despite the burden of responsibilities on your head. go be the guy who does it all - fails most of the time, but tried anyways. go win. Turns out your neighbor is a good time guy with a loud speed boat who loves to rip it up on the water daily. This is not what you had in mind and is ruining the experience for you. Should you have done more research on the rules of the lake like “no wake” zones or spent more time seeing what kind of boats went by?! Or should you learn to live with it knowing you bought a lake front property and boats are allowed.

It's 2030 and you are reviewing humanoid robots. A Tesla. A Google. An Apple. An OpenAI. A Meta. A Figure. And a bunch of Chinese-made ones. Which one is best, and why? I think the Tesla understands the world much better. Why? There were eight Teslas around me on the freeway today. Start there. No other robot company has that data. But my robot is parked at the local high school twice a day. Its cameras see humans in all of our weirdness. How we move. Where we go. Where we walk. Who we talk with. What you are wearing. Whether your hair was combed this morning. That data will lead to robotics breakthroughs. Apple might keep up with its Vision Pro data, but it is too freaked out by the privacy implications of using said data. (On the front are six cameras and a couple of TOF -- Time Of Flight -- sensors that can see everything in your home in great detail). Google has a lot of data, for sure. All my: 1. Email. 2. Calendars. 3. Photos. 4. TV watching behavior. 5. Contacts. 6. Documents and spreadsheets. 7. Files. 8. Location data. So I expect Google's robot will be attractive to many. But how do you see the others shake out over the next five years? Make some guesses. But remember what an AI pioneer told me years ago about AI: it's all about the data. The Chinese ones have huge advantages: the Chinese have more data on their citizens, and many more citizens to boot AND they can make robots cheaper than we can. But now that you know OpenAI is building its own robot you have caught wind of what I've heard from many in San Francisco and Silicon Valley: that humanoid robots are the real prize of AI and will be highly profitable for those that can make them and find customers willing to buy them. Here, too, I learned long ago never to bet against Elon Musk. Will you?

The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, doesn’t even know if there is still a passenger train service between Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare, and Zimbabwe’s second biggest city, Bulawayo. That is how bad and clueless his Government has become, and when I say these things here on social media, people who don’t live in Zimbabwe think that I am making it up. Imagine the President of your country not knowing if there is a passenger train between your two biggest cities, what does that mean? Sadly Zimbabwe’s main opposition doesn’t have a shadow transport minister to amplify these issues and educate citizens on why public transport is expensive for them because there are no passenger trains. In 1988 a bus ride cost $8 from Harare to Gweru, the train fare was $4 for the same distance, which means passengers could save half the fare when using passenger trains. The majority of the voters don’t know this because they were not yet born when intercity passenger trains were still moving. Citizens don’t understand the relatedness of rail services to the cost of goods in supermarkets, it requires political education which is the job of a shadow minister who would have researched on this particular brief and have the figures on their finger tips. This also applies to goods and services, the cost of a bottle of cooking oil is made more expensive because it has been transported via road instead of rail. On the primary issue, how does a country grow when the President doesn’t even know if there are passenger rail services between cities yet the same president appointed a board of directors at National Railways of Zimbabwe that is drawing perks and cars? The same president has a transport minister and permanent secretary and a whole ministry with directors and managers. I give up I tell you! It is concerning when a country's leadership is disconnected from critical issues like transportation. Lack of awareness about essential public services does indeed hinder progress and public welfare. Engaging citizens and addressing these issues through informed governance is crucial for a nation's development without which nothing will change.
