Al-Haisami said heavy gunfire from Israeli forces and Israeli-backed Palestinian militias was directed at homes for more than an hour before Momen’s home was struck at around 2 a.m. “There was shooting from the Israeli side, or rather, from the militias, at the houses and at people while they were inside their homes,” he said. “People tried to flee the area.” Residents spent hours trying to recover the family from beneath the rubble as Israeli forces continued firing toward the area. “We managed to recover three bodies. There is also a little girl—we managed to recover part of her body, but the rest is still under the rubble,” Al-Haisami said, adding that Israeli fire prevented them from retrieving the rest of her remains.
