A lot of infielders are scared of the short hop. Great infielders create it! Here are some keys to playing the short hop: 1️⃣ Move your feet The closer your glove is to the ball, the less that can go wrong. Move your feet to catch the ball as close to the ground as possible 2️⃣ Play from the ground up Playing under the ball softens our hands and allows us to play through it 3️⃣ Practice away from the field To get really good at fielding (or anything) you need to put in hours and hours of practice. There is not enough team practice time to get in the reps you need to play at a high level. You must take what you learned at practice and work on it at your house. The garage, basement, driveway, or backyard. Reps build trust. 4️⃣ Someone is always working It’s a big world. If you aren’t consistently sharpening your game, someone else is.

Outfield conditioning drill I’m all about finding things to do on your own if you don’t have anyone to help you out. When doing these 5 reps: •Focus on opening up as your first step •Saying behind the ball •Stepping with your glove foot as you catch the ball to help keep your momentum and push off that leg to get into your crow hop •Feet stay in motion the entire time

This is the easiest way to show you the simplified MATCHUP between body rotation & shaft pitch. The steeper you are, the more you have to tilt in order to get the club back in position. If you try rotating instead, you’ll get way too steep on it. The shallower you are, the more you need to rotate in order to get the club back into position. If you try tilting, you’ll get stuck way underneath and will suffer from all sorts of low point and contact issues. This is a big reason why being shallower is specifically better for golfers who want to rotate more through the shot. Enjoy! 🤙
