Here's the scary part. An earlier release that creates just 2 degrees less shaft lean at impact is the difference between a flush strike and laying a divot over the ball. This is just another reason why your golf swing can feel the same from swing to swing, yet produce incredibly different results. Bryson DeChambeau’s next event after LIV Golf Andalucia is the US Open, where he’ll attempt to win his 3rd gold medal. He spoke to Flushing It Golf at Valderrama about his preparation ahead of Shinnecock Hills and whether he feels any pressure after missing the last 2 cuts in majors: “Well, Valderrama is a ball striker's golf course. So you have to control your golf ball and hit the right shots under the gun with a lot of wind out here. It really is a great ball strikers paradise. The same as, you know, in the US Open. I think this is a great test.” Bryson shot rounds of 70, 71, 71 and 70 to finish T11 at Valderrama. Does he feel any pressure to perform after missing the cut at the Masters and the PGA Championship? “No. To be honest, missed cuts are gonna happen. I might miss all 4 of them in majors this year. That's just golf. Like, I’m playing great. I just haven't shown up when it mattered most. But I've played well out here on LIV, and I’m working on my golf swing really hard, and, I feel like it's in a really solid place. It's very close to some of my best golf ever. “Last week (in Korea) I had a great opportunity to win for the third time this year and didn't close the door. And that's just more learning, you know, if I had a little bit more knowledge of what to do in the golf swing, to get the ball to go straight in a few scenarios. I could have taken that championship down too. “So, I feel like I'm actually playing the most consistent I've ever played on LIV, which is great. And I think it's attributed to the switch to four rounds. No question.” Bryson says he’s going to head to Shinnecock early to get some extended work in and thinks it will be a huge benefit after not playing the course since the 2018 US Open. If he were to win it, he would join Tiger Woods and Hale Irwin as the only players to win 3 gold medals. It would also put him just 1 championship shy of equalling the all time US Open winners record of 4, held by Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones and Willie Anderson. Real Club Valderrama hosted its first event on the LIV Golf League in 2023 and has been a staple on the schedule since. The GM, Javier Reviriego, says they are very happy with their partnership and they will be looking to renew their contract when it’s up next season. Speaking to Flushing It Golf, Javier said: “We're very happy. I mean, for us, the event has been great, giving us a lot of visibility. “The best thing is to have these great players here. I mean, these players, we would have never dreamed of having them here in a DP World Tour event. That's a fact. “And we couldn't dream of bringing a PGA Tour event to Spain because I don't think that was ever going to happen either. So, we wanted this quality of players, and there was no choice, really.” LIV Golf Andalucía is just 5 weeks away and the build out is currently going up all over the course, with a huge hospitality area on the bank behind the 17th green striking an imposing presence. Advertising boards promoting the event greet arrivals at Gibraltar Airport and they are in the process of thickening the rough to make the course as challenging as ever. Javier says he has spoken to league executives who assure him it’s business as usual and Valderrama are even considering some renovations to the golf course to help improve the venue for future years. Their contract with LIV Golf ends after the 2027 season, and Javier says they are looking to renew and would be “happy to continue the relationship.” The LIV Golf League returns to Valderrama on June 4th as Talor Gooch aims to defend and win the title for the 3rd time in 4 seasons. The Masters rules and competition committee chairman issued Sergio Garcia a code of conduct warning following an incident on the 2nd hole Sunday. Garcia also picked up Jon Rahm’s golf bag while Rahm’s caddie tended to a bunker. Garcia smashed his driver and will not be able to use the club for the rest of the Final Round. #TheMasters

What’s your attitude when you get a windy day on the course? One of the best things about playing links golf is you get used to the wind. You go from fearing it to craving it. (When the course is made for wind.) We had a super windy day at Kennemer in Holland. Had 180 yards straight into the breeze on 9, went with a dead hand 7 wood and struck gold. A great shot is always satisfying. But the more variables you take on, the more satisfying it is. Learning to treat wind as an opportunity to really play golf completely changes your enjoyment level.

I have my first golf lesson on Friday which I’m buzzing for, but found a driving range in Croatia and hit a few balls. I have still only been to a driving range a handful of times in my life, and I am yet to play an 18 hole round, but going to get a few lessons first and then head out and give it a go 😆 Excited to get better!

The renovation of Belleair CC’s East Course involves moving some seriously mature trees. The process and planning for moving these trees is very thorough. The result- a completely renovated golf course with a seasoned feel to it. Unlike the restoration of our West course, the East is only restoring about a third of Ross’ design. Why not restore it all? It was an impossible task- back in the 1980s our current clubhouse was built over the original driving range. At that time we built a new driving range and lost two par threes and the opening holes of the East. Around that same time the club needed a irrigation pond for the 36 holes, which ate up a good portion of Ross’ East Course design on the other side of the road. The result of that redesign was a course which had 6 subpar golf holes. This renovation will create a better golf course designed to challenge all skill levels. I am very excited to have a better East Course!

First round of the Northern Open at the legendary Royal Dornoch — and honestly, what a privilege to play a course with this kind of history and character. It’s one of the best in the world for a reason. Links golf is a different beast. The turf’s firmer, the bounce is unpredictable, and the wind is a constant factor — especially up here. It demands a completely different style of play compared to parkland courses. You’ve got to think way ahead, control your ball flight, and accept that sometimes the ground game is your best (and only) option. Today, I didn’t hit it great and definitely struggled to adapt in the wind and cold. A few wayward shots and some scrappy moments left me grinding out a 74 (+4), which puts me mid-pack. It wasn’t pretty, but sometimes links golf is about survival more than style. My approach play was a real sticking point. This is an The PGA PGAScotland Open Series event, so every shot counts toward the Order of Merit. Still in the hunt, still learning, and still grateful for days like this. On to tomorrow. #RoyalDornoch #NorthernOpen #TrustTheProcess
