During Estimates, I tabled a graph from the ABS, showing that electricity prices surged by 23% over two years. While the Government used temporary subsidies to mask the pain, those subsidies have now ended, leaving millions of Australians to face the brutal reality of a 16% "catch-up" spike in...

You need to call out her bullshit that Ukraine invasion is the cause of electricity price rises, this is total nonsense.

Given Labor, Bowen and Albanese keep spouting that renewables are the cheapest form of power, can they explain this graph for me? France >75% electricity from nuclear. Germany got rid of nuclear for renewables. Anyone?? When is Labor going to table a forecast cost to complete?

Why is Australias electric prices got anything to do with Ukraine Australia has so many options via natural resources that Australia should be entirely independent of anything outside Australia.

She is so full of ahit. First she says the rise was due to supply shock and then later she says that prices have risen significantly. She can’t even keep her lies straight

Isn't Australia rich in natural resources? What the hell are you people doing with all those riches? Keeping them from being used?

The RBA is a Joke. It seems to be looking after the Profits of the big Banks. Nationalise the Banks and fix the fraudulent banking Industry.

Maybe the Treasurer is confused about the population? ? Does he think the average australia receives the “strong real wages” that public servants receive ???. These people need to go back and work in the real world and receive real wages not the inflated payment they receive

If you set a new level of electricity prices then surely the 16% real increase in electricity costs is hidden when the subsidies are removed we will be paying alot more for electricity than is shown in the CPI Am I wrong?

She is 💯 correct. Nations like Australia have seen a multi-decade decline in dynamism, marked by lower job turnover and reduced business entry rates. Govts have become reactionary, risk adverse, reducing funding in R&D (read CSIRO and medical funding). All impacts Productivity.

Why is the only lever to tackle inflation, is to hit mortgage holders with higher rates. Making people poorer and banks wealthy ? I dont believe its mortgage holders who are the ones overspending. The .25 increases should be put on the mortgage holders principle & not touched.

And the same will happen after the 3 month excise cut. This government aren't going to give away anything. They're takers

Barack Obama ruined American healthcare and here are the facts “At the heart of the shutdown debate is whether or not Congress should extend these expanded temporary Obamacare subsidies. Here are 6 reasons why they shouldn't be extended - The first is that they cost almost half a trillion dollars. And at a time when we have $2 trillion annual deficits, we can't afford to throw more fuel on our fiscal bonfire - The second reason is that they're largely welfare for the well off. These credits can be claimed by people earning up to $600,000 a year. About a third of the cost goes to people over 400% of the poverty line. So they're simply not well targeted to people in need - The third reason is the subsidies are largely captured by insurance companies. The subsidy themselves goes directly to insurance companies and then it's captured in the form of higher price inflation and larger profits by these large insurance companies. - Fourth reason is that they fuel rampant enrollment fraud. More than 6 million people are improperly enrolled and millions more don't use the coverage that they're enrolled in, signaling that there's more people enrolled in the program than there should be - Fifth reason is that patients don't value the coverage. They only are enrolled because the federal government is covering 100% of of the cost for many people. And if the government only covered 90% of the cost, they would choose to spend their own money on something they value more. - The last reason is these subsidies were initially temporary on purpose. They were a response to the pandemic and the pandemic is over. And these are the reasons Congress should let these subsidies expire. They are expensive, they're not well targeted, and they fuel rampant fraud in our healthcare system.”

I’ve been keeping a very close eye on the Reserve Bank’s moves toward a digital future. During this exchange with Governor Bullock, I pressed for clarity on exactly where they are headed with Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) and the "unified digital currency" the big banks have been whispering about. I asked about developments in both domestic and international settlements. The Governor admitted that while they ran a pilot back in 2023, the focus has shifted. They aren't looking at a "retail CBDC" right now, which would be digital cash for everyday shopping. Instead, their focus is firmly on looking at how to settle "tokenised assets." Tokenised financial products, also called asset tokens, are a way to turn traditional money-related things into digital versions that live on blockchain technology, the same as that used by Bitcoin and Ethereum. These could include shares, real estate, artworks and precious metals. Normally these are hard to buy and/or sell quickly, especially in small amounts, and often involve lots of paperwork, middlemen and high minimum investments. Tokenisation changes that by creating a digital token that acts like a certificate of ownership for a piece (or all) of that real thing. The token is recorded on a blockchain, which is theoretically secure. You would be able to buy a share of a home, business, art or precious metals within minutes, allowing small investments to grow your savings more than bank interest would do. Note: This technology is not there yet! The RBA is scoping it out - as many institutions are. I will continue to monitor these experiments to ensure that this doesn't come at the cost of our financial privacy or sovereignty. — Senate Estimates

The RBA is colluding with global banks against our national interest. In Estimates I asked the RBA how much it costs to store our gold with the Bank of England. They of course had to take it on notice. I asked if it would be worth storing our gold in the vaults of the RBA building, which is currently incurring a billion dollar bill to remove asbestos. At the bottom of the building are vaults which used to hold cash but given the decline in its usage they are now empty. They would be perfect to store gold bars. Notice how Chris Kent the RBA Deputy Governor literally chokes on his own anxiety as he argues it would cost too much to bring it home. Funny that. It didn’t cost to much to send it the Bank of England. And apparently it wouldn’t be able to be lent out if it was in Sydney. Yet again why is the RBA lending gold which works to lower the price received by Australian gold miners? The answer of course is because the RBA is a puppet of the International banking regime. Previously I’ve been told by the RBA the gold bars don’t move when they are lent out so what difference does it make as to where the gold bars are stored. The reality is that the International Banking regime has to keep the price of gold suppressed by manipulating its supply through artificial selling. Bankers rely on the creation of paper money to generate an income. As the paper market becomes more and more fragile with ever increasing amounts of debt, people and governments turn to gold to protect their wealth. The bankers are trying to protect their racquet for as long as possible before it all collapses. And I quote: “Renovating the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) headquarters is increasingly looking like a disastrous episode of home-building show Grand Designs. The key difference? The budget for the horror reno is now north of $1 billion. Documents obtained using the Freedom of Information (FOI) process detail the difficulty and unexpected expense of renovating the central bank's flagship office at 65 Martin Place in Sydney, built in 1964.” Quote from: #auspol

Scott Jennings just made a FOOL out of 25-year-old Democrat wunderkind, David Hogg. Hogg used his time on CNN to blame Republicans for the government shutdown, even accusing Scott Jennings of not caring about people in his home state on ACA subsidies. He was silenced pretty quickly. HOGG: “The entire reason the government is not open right now is because Democrats refuse to be complicit in having millions of Americans, including 100,000 in Kentucky, you’re home state if I’m remembering correctly Scott, that rely on ACA, that would see their premiums rise several dozen percent.” When Jennings finally jumped into the discussion, he came armed with the facts and Hogg didn’t stand a chance. JENNINGS: “But David, you would admit that the ACA was a Democrat legislation, yes?” “And you would admit that the subsidies that we’re talking about now were passed by Democrats, yes?” “And you would admit that the sunset provision in the subsidies, which comes up at the end of the year, was in place because of Democrats, yes?” “Now you want to make it a Republican problem. These are not the same issues.” “You could open the government today and then you could negotiate with Republicans about ACA subsidies.” “And by the way, my suspicion is and you know this, there are probably and I know there are some House Republicans that would love to negotiate on it, but under duress, under a hostage taking situation, connecting disconnected issues.” “And now you’re throwing SNAP onto it. You’re throwing all the federal workers who aren’t being paid onto it, all because of this fight that you wandered into, because of your wing of the Democratic Party.” “YOU ALL led to this SNAP crisis. You all led to this crisis of the government being closed and you don’t know how to get out of it!”
