Announcing the BOOM DAO GRANT PROGRAM!📢🚨🚀 The BOOM Grant Program is designed to accelerate the expansion of the BOOM ecosystem and enhance the broader Internet Computer ecosystem by empowering game developers to create exceptional video games on the BOOM World Protocol. By offering grants, the program encourages developers to innovate and build engaging gaming experiences that integrate seamlessly with the BOOM Gaming Guild. Game developers who participate in the BOOM Grant Program have the opportunity to integrate quests from the BOOM Gaming Guild into their games. This integration not only enriches the BOOM game platform but also rewards gamers and developers. Additionally, by incorporating BOOM Gaming Guild quests, developers can tap into the extensive Gaming Guild userbase, potentially acquiring thousands of new users. This synergy creates powerful network effects that benefit both the BOOM ecosystem and the Internet Computer ecosystem at large. Grantees can also give back to BOOM DAO through future token launches or NFT launches. The program seeks to make building games on ICP more accessible and appealing by providing the necessary financial, tech, and marketing support to promising teams and individuals. Through this initiative, game developers are equipped with the resources they need to bring their visionary games to life, contributing to interconnected gaming community on the Internet Computer blockchain. Focus Areas for the Grants 👉 Building simple, fun, casual, and visually beautiful 3D minigames using the BOOM Minigame Template, which automatically integrates ICP login and quests in the BOOM Gaming Guild. 👉 Integrating the BOOM Unity Package into your existing Unity game, deploying it on ICP using WebGL, and creating quests in the BOOM Gaming Guild for it. 👉 All games must meet the requirements of having high-quality graphics, easy-to-learn gameplay, built in Unity, optimized for WebGL, and a focus on a crypto-native user base. 👉 Overly complex games (eg. Advanced Strategy games) or visually boring games (eg. 2D or cheap graphics) will be rejected. Grant Application Process A motion proposal must be made by the game development team or individual to the BOOM SNS DAO with a detailed breakdown of their funding tier and the milestones of their grant application. This is subject to the DAO voting for approval. We are currently offering three funding tiers, and ask you to tailor your application and scope of work accordingly: 👉 5,000 USD - Your work should be scoped according to a 1-2 month timeline. 👉 10,000 USD - Your work should be scoped according to a 2-3 month timeline. 👉 25,000 USD - Your work should be scoped according to a 3-4 month timeline. More than 1 game can be built during the process of a grant, in fact BOOM DAO encourages teams to build as many high-quality games as they can during a grant timeline. The more games that can be built during a grant, the more games that are growing the BOOM ecosystem. Each grant will consist of 4 milestones, with funding being distributed in 4 equal increments. Each milestone will be accountable to a motion proposal with a detailed progress update and links to any deliverables available to review. After each milestone has been reached and approved through the motion proposal, a transfer proposal can be made for ICP tokens from the treasury using the USD value on the day of distribution. Let's grow the ICP and BOOM DAO gaming ecosystem! 🎮🌏

🕹️ Building Games People Actually Want to Play This Genfinity conversation brought together founders from pump.games, Cyberlete, and Astro Explorer | Bork Borks & Zerkers. Different products and networks (Algorand, Constellation, Hedera), but similar constraints. Each team is working around the same reality: most gamers do not care about digital assets. They care whether a game is fun, fair, familiar, and easy to engage with. Pump Games is testing a single match-style game to determine whether chain-based team competition works at all before expanding. The focus is on iteration and community participation, not building a large catalog upfront. Recent competitions between the XRP and HBAR communities are part of that testing. Cyberlete is leveraging Constellation (DAG) technology. They are addressing cheating in competitive gaming by verifying tournament data and rewarding gamers who help verify. The value is fairness and integrity, not new game mechanics. Astro Explorer has stayed intentionally agile, adding games slowly and keeping incentives modest so the platform remains usable and sustainable. Think retro arcade-style competition in a familiar environment. Astro is built on the ALGO network. There was no assumption that mainstream adoption is imminent. Web apps were favored over app stores for flexibility. Wallet friction was acknowledged as a real barrier. Most progress is coming from testing, reducing friction, and keeping the game playable first. Next-gen gaming will only happen by solving adoption problems now. These are the builders on the front lines of adoption. Hosted by Tate

STATEMENT: ALARMING SITUATION AT CASTLEBAR HOSPITAL Earlier this month Martina Burke attempted to enquire at Mayo University Hospital concerning the “life-long” prescription of the laxative Movicol to children under 12 years of age. While Martina Burke and her daughter were speaking with a doctor on this issue, they were intercepted by a nurse manager who was clearly unhappy with the conversation. We have an epidemic of young people in this country addicted to gambling and gaming online. Supermarkets are now stocking nappies for young people up to 16 years of age (and even over) who are unwilling to leave their screens while involved in gaming and are experiencing bowel issues as a result. Doctors and consultants are treating symptoms - and choosing to prescribe long-term medication - rather than address the cause. We also have serious concerns over elderly patients who are worried about medication prescribed for them by hospital staff. Since 2020 Mayo University Hospital (MUH) staff have been gagged by General Manager Catherine Donohoe from speaking about “any hospital business” outside the hospital. Local councillors have refused to raise the gagging order at HSE Forum meetings. Mayo University Hospital and all other HSE hospitals in this country are funded by taxpayers. All actions within these walls should be transparent and open to scrutiny. It is unacceptable that nurses and management would shut down conversation and that patients are made to feel intimidated and worried.

I was honored to represent Tanzania at CSW69- the 69th Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Head Quaters in New York as part of Club de Madrid’s High Level Delegation that includes the former President of Chile Madam Michele Bachelet. I had the privilege of speaking on multiple panels, sharing my journey as a young woman leader while addressing critical issues shaping the future of women and youth. From AI and technology to women’s leadership in politics and business, I highlighted how mentorship, economic opportunities, work-life balance and digital transformation can empower the next generation. We must shift gender narratives, implement bold policies, and create real access to resources for women to thrive! Proud to have shared the stage with the First Woman President of Chile who also happens to be the first Executive Director of UN Women and also former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and current Vice President of @club_de_madrid Madam Michelle Bachelet and the current Maria A Reed Stacey Executive Director Maria A Reed Staceychief, Executive Director of GWL Voices and President of the 73rd UN General Assembly Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa, Ministers from Spain, Slovenia, Greece, the Permanent Representative of Greece to the UN, Women’s International Forum (WIF) representatives, and many others—all driving meaningful change. I attended bilateral meetings with permanent representatives from Philippines, Japan, Chile, Norway, and with the Secretary General of the TB Tanzania’s progress is inspiring, but our work continues. Let’s not just reflect on 30 years since Beijing—let’s shape the next 30 by accelerating action! #CSW69 #TanzaniaToTheWorld #WomenInLeadership #Beijing30 #EmpoweringYouth #EconomicOpportunity

FAKE FEMINISTS: Women's org celebrates man for International Women's Day You know, Canada used to produce real feminists. Women who actually fought for women. Women who risked their reputations, their safety, and sometimes even their freedom to win basic rights that seem obvious today. One of the most prominent examples of that fight happened right here in Canada with a group known as the “Famous Five.” In the 1920s, Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Edwards, Louise McKinney and Irene Parlby took on the Canadian government over a simple but outrageous question: Were women legally considered “persons”? Yes. That was the actual legal question. At the time, women could not sit in the Senate because the law only allowed “qualified persons.” And according to the courts, that word did not include women. So, the Famous Five challenged the system. They fought their case all the way to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in Britain and in 1929 they won the historic Persons Case, which affirmed that women were indeed persons under the law. It was a foundational victory for women’s political rights in Canada. Their legacy is supposed to be about defending women as a distinct class with their own rights and interests. Which makes what just happened in Ottawa so astonishing. Because the Famous Five Foundation — the organization that claims to carry on the legacy of those women — has decided to honour a biological man. Not just any man. A man who has openly advocated for silencing women who defend women-only spaces. His name is Fae Johnstone, a prominent activist in Canada’s trans lobby. Through organizations like Queer Momentum and Wisdom2Action, groups that together receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in public and institutional funding, he has built a professional advocacy career pushing gender ideology into Canadian institutions and fighting against parents' rights. That advocacy often comes with a very clear message to women: fall in line or be shut up — or worse. Women who question whether female-only spaces, sports, shelters or prisons should remain female-only are routinely labelled hateful, bigoted or dangerous by activists in this movement and by Johnstone more specifically. In other words, women who try to defend the very rights that the Famous Five fought to establish are treated like enemies. And yet, somehow, the Famous Five Foundation in Ottawa decided this was the person worthy of recognition as part of International Women's Day. Think about the absurdity of that for a moment. The women who fought to have women recognized as persons are now being invoked to celebrate a man who believes womanhood is simply a matter of personal identification. A movement that once fought to define women as a legal and biological reality is now apparently comfortable honouring someone who insists those boundaries don’t exist at all. And this isn’t the first time institutions have tried to sell Canadians this idea. Johnstone was previously the keynote speaker at the YWCA Regina’s Women of Distinction Awards, another event meant to celebrate women’s achievements — but apparently now open to men who identify as women. At some point, we have to ask the obvious question: If awards for women keep going to men, what exactly is left that belongs to women? It’s institutional cowardice dressed up as progress. Real feminism used to mean defending women, even when it was unpopular. Even when powerful people didn’t like it. The Famous Five challenged the establishment because women were being erased from the definition of “persons.” Today, their legacy is being used to applaud the erasure of women from their own spaces. If Emily Murphy and Nellie McClung could see what their foundation is doing now, they would probably ask a very simple question: After everything we fought for… how did it come to this? Because the truth is, the people running these institutions today are not continuing the legacy of the Famous Five. They’re dismantling it. REPORT by Sheila Gunn Reid:
