During this session with Housing Australia, I asked Mr Langford why it took nine weeks to get an answer to a simple question: how many borrowers have exited the scheme? They finally admitted that of the 185,000 guarantees issued since the scheme was launched, over 45,000 have already been...

I wanted to get some straight answers about the government’s 5% deposit scheme, because to me, it looks like risky lending at the taxpayers' expense. APRA have previously said that loans with a 95% value ratio are high-risk. I asked how they reconcile that with a government scheme that encourages this exact behaviour. They admitted that high-ratio lending is "more risky" and they are watching it closely. I’m worried about what happens if property prices drop by 10 or 20%. If people fall into negative equity, the taxpayer is underwriting a huge chunk of those losses. APRA ducked out of giving a specific answer on the scheme itself, however insisted their "stress tests" for the overall banking system are even more severe than the scenarios raised. I asked if the Treasurer warned about the scheme’s risks? They told me they gave some advice to Treasury early on about mortgage insurers, but nothing specifically to the Treasurer. They will provide me with a copy of that advice on notice. I questioned APRA as to whether this scheme follows their own sound risk management standards. They replied that they don’t "opine" on government policy, however confirmed that they’ll expect banks to hold the same amount of capital against these loans as any other high-risk product. Finally, I asked if they would publish stress test results specifically for this 5% scheme. They stated that their stress tests are "much broader than any one government policy" and that they are "not aware of a stress test" planned for this specific scheme. APRA knows these loans are risky and are tiptoeing around the topic.

‼️ZELENSKYY ON THE LATEST RUSSIAN AERIAL ATTACKS: The Russians understand that we will grow stronger. This is their response. There is now funding for domestic production after we unlocked €90 billion from the EU. “Since the beginning of this year, the balance of occupied and de-occupied territories has not been in favor of the Russian Federation. As we said, they were preparing offensive operations at the end of the year 2025. We understand that they are preparing for the similar steps in the year 2026 as well. To sell to their population or feed those narratives in communication with the United States of America that they will win this war. Well, they have nothing to play on now, in my opinion. That's why they started it (massive arial attack). I want to remind everyone. We said that this is an operation that has several steps. This is a continuation of the (Russian) operation that took place in winter: striking at our energy sector and showing that Ukraine can be broken, because they have nothing else to sell on the battlefield. There is no success on the battlefield for Russia. Now we have unlocked the money (€90 billion from EU) This is a reaction, in my opinion, this is the number one reaction to the fact that they understand that Ukraine is not alone. And now there are finances for domestic production. The Russians understand that we will get stronger. As much as they would like to, we will get stronger. And this is how they respond” - Ukrainian President on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

#WATCH | Glasgow, Scotland | PoK activist from Scotland, Amjad Ayub Mirza says, "The situation in Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting worse by the hour. After the arrest of the leader of Joint Awami Action Committee Shaukat Nawaz Mir, so far more than 600 workers and activists of the committee have been arrested... On 5th of July, that was usually celebrated or observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day, in the name of the people of Kashmir Valley, is now being observed against Pakistan. Not only in PoJK, but also there are thousands of people who are going to turn up in London and on the 5th of July and protest against brutalities committed by Pakistan in Pakistani-occupied J&K... The situation is very precarious because Pakistan has created an economic blockade and there is no food, they are not allowing any food in to PoJK... Also, they have created a massive blockade for travel. So people who have to go to the hospital or people who had been somewhere else and want to return home, they are stranded. And they are using drones for surveillance of the Rabla court sit-in, where thousands of people have gathered for the past more than three weeks now. And the gathering is increasing..." He also says, "I don't think that the elections called on the 27th of July are going to be held anymore because people are now saying that we are going to boycott it. They say we are not going to vote for another puppet assembly. So we'll have to see where this movement goes... They are doing straight firing on the peaceful protesters... We don't have the exact number but definitely more than 100 have so far been killed. In Rabla court, the hospital, they are not giving the dead bodies. When people went there to collect the dead bodies, they said you write down that your child or son or brother or whoever they have come to collect was a terrorist. If you don't write that we are not going to give it... And those who are injured, as soon as they go to the hospital or go to the first aid centers, they have been picked up and made to disappear..." I want to ask three questions first, which will make it very clear that the BJP is directing and using the Election Commission to damage India's democracy. ❓ Why is it that the CJI was removed from the selection panel of the Election Commissioner? What motivation could there be to remove the CJI? Do we not believe in the CJI? Of course, we believe in the CJI. Why is he not in that room? I sit in that room. It is a so-called democratic decision. On one side, PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah. On the other side, the leader of the opposition. I have no voice in that room. What they decide is what happens. So, why are the Prime Minister and Amit Shah so keen on choosing exactly who the Election Commissioner is going to be? ❓ This is a devastating one. No Prime Minister has done this in the history of India. In December 2023, this government changed the law. They changed the law to make sure that no Election Commissioner could be punished for any action they take while they are Election Commissioners. Why would the Prime Minister and Home Minister give this gift of immunity to the Election Commissioner? Why would they need to give this tremendous gift that no prime minister has ever given before to the election commissioner? ❓ Why was the law with regard to CCTVs and the data that they contain changed? Why was a law put in place that allows the Election Commission to destroy CCTV footage 45 days after the election? What is the need? The answer given is that it is a question of data. But it is not a question of data. It is a question of stealing the election. : LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha

Barack Obama ruined American healthcare and here are the facts “At the heart of the shutdown debate is whether or not Congress should extend these expanded temporary Obamacare subsidies. Here are 6 reasons why they shouldn't be extended - The first is that they cost almost half a trillion dollars. And at a time when we have $2 trillion annual deficits, we can't afford to throw more fuel on our fiscal bonfire - The second reason is that they're largely welfare for the well off. These credits can be claimed by people earning up to $600,000 a year. About a third of the cost goes to people over 400% of the poverty line. So they're simply not well targeted to people in need - The third reason is the subsidies are largely captured by insurance companies. The subsidy themselves goes directly to insurance companies and then it's captured in the form of higher price inflation and larger profits by these large insurance companies. - Fourth reason is that they fuel rampant enrollment fraud. More than 6 million people are improperly enrolled and millions more don't use the coverage that they're enrolled in, signaling that there's more people enrolled in the program than there should be - Fifth reason is that patients don't value the coverage. They only are enrolled because the federal government is covering 100% of of the cost for many people. And if the government only covered 90% of the cost, they would choose to spend their own money on something they value more. - The last reason is these subsidies were initially temporary on purpose. They were a response to the pandemic and the pandemic is over. And these are the reasons Congress should let these subsidies expire. They are expensive, they're not well targeted, and they fuel rampant fraud in our healthcare system.”
