We have kept our system running thanks to physical protection of the facilities – and thanks to everyone who helps us with air defense. Just as important, Ukraine still has power because of our people – thousands of workers who serve millions. When I see our energy workers, our repair crews, rescue teams – I see something that is often missing in politics: true dedication – the ability to work at one hundred percent, to act immediately – in a real emergency. Not in a month, not in a year or two, but they save lives here, they save lives now. All these years. Many politicians could learn – and must learn – from ordinary rescuers, from ordinary repair crews, from ordinary electricians – how to act immediately.

Tsikhanouskaya says around 800 political prisoners remain in Belarus Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that around 800 political prisoners are currently believed to remain behind bars in Belarus, though the real number may be significantly higher. Responding to my question about how many Belarusian political prisoners are still held in prisons inside Belarus, Tsikhanouskaya said many arrests remain undocumented because people are afraid to contact human rights organizations. “As far as we know, around 800 political prisoners remain in Belarusian prisons today, but I am convinced the real number is much higher. People are arrested every day, and many are so terrified that they do not even turn to human rights organizations to have these cases documented,” she said. She thanked the US President Trump's Special Envoy for Belarus john coale, for his efforts to secure the release of political prisoners and noted that about 500 people have already been released, with some deported from Belarus. Tsikhanouskaya stressed, however, that the Lukashenko regime treats prisoner releases as a political bargaining tool rather than a humanitarian gesture. “For Lukashenko, these releases are not an act of humanity. I have an amazing announcement to make: The water system for the Nature Reserve Pumakawa that me and my community Fundraised for last year, has finally FINISHED construction!! 🥹🩵✨ This system is not only newer and with better materials, but also extends to the entire reserve, offering drinking and bathing water to the animals, protects the entire reserve from wildfires and makes volunteers work MUCH easier. Thank you, to my loving, caring and selfless community for making this happen, we made a real difference here!! 🫂

But around 50,000 to one lakh cusecs of Godavari water is getting wasted EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Let me give you a better perspective - In just ONE DAY Kannepalli pump house can lift water equivalent to one entire Hussain Sagar full water. In just 31 hours, Kannepalli pump house can lift water equivalent to one Gandipet Lake. But the government refuses to accept. It is unfortunate, that with the threat of drought due to El-Nino is looming large, the Telangana Congress Government decided to play politics. Senior politician and BJP MP Etala Rajendar too came in support of utilising Kannepalli Pump House to lift Godavari water. “Do your politics later. Sundilla, Annaram, Yellampalli - all these dams, motors and pump-houses are in perfect condition. The beauty of Kannepalli pump house is that, even when 50,000 cusecs of water inflow is there (in Godavari), water can be lifted. We need to understand that El-Nino will bring severe drought. It is unfortunate that Congress is resorting to political grandstanding instead of using the available infrastructure (of Kaleshwaram) that was built with thousands of crores. People need water. I made it clear during the interview with TVC News Your View that Lagos has a lot of environmental challenges, we are a tiny state that houses 10% of the nation population. We are below sea level; when it rains, the tidal level goes up and the storm water cannot clear up easily. This is flash flooding and it eases off after an hour or two. It is not something to sensationalize, it is just the reality we face as a state bordered by the ocean. We are not where we want to be but we are not idle. We work round the clock to engage and make the situation better. #CleanerLagos

Body of teenage boy sadly recovered from Stalybridge Reservoir The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from water near Cowbury Reservoir, Stalybridge. This was after emergency were called to reports of a 15-year-old boy getting into difficulty in the water yesterday (Saturday 27 June 2026). At around 6.30pm police were called and emergency service colleagues from GMFRS and NWAS attended. Sadly, a body was located in the water later that evening and was recovered by specialist partners. Formal identification has taken place and his family have been made aware. Detectives from Tameside CID are – at this stage – confident that there aren’t any suspicious circumstances, and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Chief Inspector Helen Baxter said: “Yesterday’s events are nothing short of devastating and my thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young boy who sadly lost his life in such awful circumstances. “We are confident that there are no suspicious circumstances and that this is such a sad reminder of the dangers of entering open water. "We remind the public to please avoid being tempted to cool off in reservoirs, rivers, canals or ponds. "We all want to enjoy the warm weather; please make sure you do so in a safe way."

Can We Flush Tissue Paper or Napkins in Toilets? The recent Air India toilet clogging incident has brought us international embarrassment. A Delhi-bound Air India flight had to return to Chicago after two hours because 8 out of 12 toilets got blocked. This happened because some passengers flushed plastic bags, sanitary napkins, and other non-disposable items into the toilet. In India, we are more accustomed to using water for cleaning, unlike in Western countries where toilet paper is commonly used due to the cold climate. Even though we now use Western-style toilets, many of us still prefer washing with water; either with a bucket or a faucet. One key difference between Indian and Western toilets is that Western-style toilets are meant to remain dry. Wet toilet seats are considered unhygienic and unpleasant, especially in Western cultures. Unfortunately, some men urinate without lifting the seat, making matters worse. With changing habits, people have started using toilet paper to dry themselves after washing. However, many are unsure about how to dispose of it properly. Some throw it in the waste bin, which is unpleasant for the next user and inconvenient for the person who cleans the toilet. The correct way to dispose of toilet paper is by flushing it, as it is designed to dissolve in water within 20-30 seconds. However, not everyone knows the difference between toilet paper and tissue paper, paper napkins, or wet wipes. These items, along with sanitary napkins, should never be flushed. While the summer heat intensifies people’s thirst, the winter cold brings with it another problem - decreasing the sensation of wanting water making it easier to become dehydrated. But the situation, whether during the summer or the winter, has remained the same. Palestinians in Gaza do not have access to enough drinking water. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project has alway prioritized bringing necessities to families in Gaza, what is essential for survival. None more important than water. But since the “ceasefire” was announced, donations have been slashed by nearly 50% across ours and most mutual aid groups. But has the necessity changed? No. Has equipment been let in to repair infrastructure? No. Have parts been sent to repair desalination plants? No. Gaza still needs access to fresh, clean, and free drinking water. The neglect of vulnerable children is not far removed from some of the crises that have overwhelmed us as a region. Last week, I sat with my brother Ydeen on his podcast, where we discussed some of the issues we encounter every day working in remote communities across Northern Nigeria. When children are abandoned to hunger, illness, illiteracy, and the streets, we are not only failing them; we are endangering the future. This is why government, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, parents, communities, the private sector, development partners, and security institutions must work together to address the overwhelming issue of street-connected children. Leaving children to fend for themselves on the streets is a keg of gunpowder.

I am deeply grateful to the leaders, stakeholders and teeming members of the APC in Osun State for the overwhelming vote of confidence in my leadership at our stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo today. I do not take this trust for granted. I also appreciate our dear President and Leader, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast commitment to the progress of our party and our nation. His leadership continues to inspire us, and we remain fully committed to supporting his Renewed Hope agenda. The outcome of the August 15 governorship election has presented us with important lessons. Our task now is to unite, reconcile and rebuild our party from the grassroots, ensuring that every member feels valued and carried along. I remain confident in the future of the APC in Osun State. Together, we will emerge stronger, more cohesive and better prepared for the political challenges ahead. I commend our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and all our leaders and members for their commitment, resilience and loyalty to the party. Our eyes are firmly on 2027. We will work together to secure victory for our candidates and deliver the promised one million votes from Osun for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The progressive family remains one. Our work continues.
