Earlier this year I visited the Vertical Motion Simulator at NASA Ames, this flight simulator has a greater range of motion than any other, being able to move laterally and vertically in addition to the rotation.

Wow didn't know it was still active. A buddy of mine gave me a tour about 25 years ago. It was configured for the Shuttle at the time, and we had the chance to practice a landing (without motion unfortunately).

The reason Back to the Future The Ride worked better with the simulator ride technology is because it was simulating the feeling of flight versus The Simpsons Ride simulating the feeling of… a roller coaster and random other theme park rides? Imagine if Star Tours at Disney was turned into anything other than a flight simulator. More information on the Russian ring-wing FPV, including a larger version apparently intended as an interceptor. They claim that the addition of the closed wing has tripled the range of an FPV to 50 km. The drones take off vertically and then transition to horizontal flight.
