During our ongoing monitoring and enforcement patrol today, 25 beggars were arrested in Agege as part of efforts to address street begging and restore order in public spaces. The patrol team has since moved to Ketu, and as of 1200hrs, a total of 86 beggars, 9 children and 12 miscreants have been apprehended across the areas covered. Those arrested will be profiled and handed over to the appropriate government agencies for further action in line with existing laws and social intervention protocols. We will continue these operations to discourage street begging, protect vulnerable persons and maintain order across Lagos. #CleanerLagos #GreaterLagos

Further to our ongoing enforcement and mop-up operations across key corridors of the State, our teams recorded the following arrests today: Eighteen beggars were apprehended along the Ketu–Mile 12 axis for constituting environmental nuisance and obstructing public spaces. Thirty-eight miscreants were arrested for soliciting alms and causing traffic disruptions along the Lekki–Epe Expressway. In addition, one Mafus Azeez, aged 15, was apprehended along the Lekki–Epe Expressway for aggressively soliciting alms by displaying bank account details and operating a POS device on the road. This individual is known for repeatedly engaging in this activity despite previous warnings. Enforcement will continue consistently across the State as we work to keep our roads safe, orderly, and free from environmental and social infractions. #CleanerLagos

In a strategic overnight clearance operation, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) apprehended 75 individuals comprising five females and 70 males suspected to be miscreants and street traders. The operation, aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring a cleaner Lagos, was conducted across key areas, including: Ikoyi & Lekki Axis: Lugard Avenue, Bourdillon Road, Glover Road, Admiralty Way, Lekki Estate Road, Ikate, and Oniru Road. Yesterday, two separate incidents involving suspected “Omotaku” touts were recorded at different locations across the State. At Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki, a truck driver whose vehicle had broken down was confronted and threatened by individuals who demanded his phone and money. Similarly, another incident occurred at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road, where suspected touts attempted to harass road users. In both instances, operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce swiftly intervened and apprehended the suspects. They will be processed in accordance with the law. We remain committed to keeping our roads safe, protecting motorists, and eliminating all forms of harassment and intimidation across Lagos. The operation is still ongoing at Alakija, with enforcement activities sustained in the area. As at this moment, the team has moved to the axis opposite the LASU Guest House, where clearance and compliance checks are currently in progress.

In response to the LAWMA Managing Director's directive regarding a trending video on Instagram depicting illegal dumping at Pen-cinema Agege and environ, the LAWMA Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team initiated a comprehensive 15-hour surveillance operation at the location near the Agege Total Bus Stop along the Old Abeokuta Road in Agege on July 4, 2025. As a direct result of this operation, seven individuals were apprehended, and all identified blackspots were effectively sustained. The apprehended individuals have been transferred to the office of the CM of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), where they will remain in custody until Monday to facilitate the continuation of legal proceedings. The illegal dumping site has been completely neutralized. During the operation, illegal street trading activities were dislodged and miscreants occupying these public spaces were arrested. Makeshift structures erected by traders were removed, goods displayed in violation of environmental regulations were seized, and a total of 11 suspects were apprehended.
