The operation is part of our sustained efforts to restore order, safety, and cleanliness across public spaces in Lagos. Our Environmental Task Force intervened at Ogudu Road by Ojota Junction, Iyana-Ipaja Under Bridge, and Egbeda Junction, where traders had encroached on the road, obstructing traffic and compromising public safety. During the operations, goods and wares were seized, and 15 offenders were arrested. All suspects will be arraigned in court, and the seized items will be forfeited to the State in line with existing laws. The patrol team has since moved to Ketu, and as of 1200hrs, a total of 86 beggars, 9 children and 12 miscreants have been apprehended across the areas covered. Major routes raided includes; Awolowo Way up to Falomo round about, Ikoyi and Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, along Lekki road. This is in a bid to arrest and get rid of destitutes and miscreants causing public nuisance in the areas. 27 persons including 15 minors involved in the unlawful act of street begging in the middle of vehicular traffic/hold-ups were apprehended during the operation. Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce have commenced enforcement against banned Okada operation, one-way traffic violations, and removal of shanties erected along Lagos -Calabar coastal highway corridor. A total of 115 street beggars were arrested today across various locations in the State during the ongoing enforcement operations. In addition, 26 members of the notorious ‘Omotaku’ group who were apprehended from different parts of Lagos within the last 24 hours, were arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Oshodi. They pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them and were sentenced to three (3) months’ imprisonment in accordance with the law.
