Early concept of Lash "Ground Strike" in ability 1. When I first conceptualized the motion, it was a full spin to the leg drop. After testing & testing we realized it took too long & I used the end to restructure what is currently in game #deadlock #deadlockgame

Why doesn't Lash have any unique animations for in-store actions yet? For example, when he buys a green item, he could flex his muscles. If he buys a Spirit, he could adjust his mustache, and if he buys a gun, he could stroke his weapon? Just maybe...

THAT WAS NEON PRIME LASH!?

really appreciate you showing stuff from early development, always so cool seeing how the game evolved over the years

neon prime lash

please share more early concept of char anims! its so v interesting

Really interesting early concept animation. Thank you Mr.Jamaal for showing it.

was any of this animation retooled into his quick melee?

Good Question... His early Melee was a '4 Hit Combo' that I can show at some point. So the knee you see in the quick combo is unique.

Lash is such a cool Hero, it is really interesting to see the earlier stages of his design. Thank you for sharing it.

THIS IS NEON PRIME LASH?? dude id kill for everyone that worked in neon prime to post concept art and early models some day

@DeathyDL thank you jamaal for showing these amazing behind the scenes for our favorite game

Cool to see that some of your ideas are still in the game even after a total game art style swap. Since many aspects of Lash's design have remained the same, can we safely assume that his lore has remained the same since Neon Prime (Lash is an asshole, and his beef with Bebop)?

Whoa! Cool to see his gun design carried through the latest iteration

I remember watching your G-Man reference video, really captivating

Unfortunate it didn’t make it, but damn did it look cool

Super cool!! Thanks for sharing!

These early anims are super interesting, thanks so much for sharing them! I'm a bit curious now, just how old is this casette-futurist iteration of Deadlock?

always the goat jamaal

It's so cool seeing him sort of "bounce" as he moves. Was the weapon only going to be used as his primary fire, and be kicks for abilities?

I love lash

Please share anything lash related, I love it!

Hi I have a question. I feel like animating for the light melee attacks must be tough since the damage has to happen immediately, but the animation needs wind up, which can often lead to a desynced or floaty feeling with those anims. Do you have any thoughts on improving that?

the goat.

Lash was a girl?? 👀

so cool to see! thank you for sharing

wait it would be so cool if he spins if he slams from high enough..............

what inspired you to design lash the way he is? any specific games/inspiration come to mind? genuinely such a clean character design

@DeathyDL You must be mistaken, this used to be an uppercut

looks pretty cool

@DeathyDL Goat bradley

Do you think it would be possible to calculate the height from the ground and do variations of the animation depending on distance? It would be so cool to hook them while spinning and bring them down for the final slam at the end

Also in that animation i can assume that falling from the high ground will break his knee

did you also work on shivs animation....... in the files theres an animation for him kind of strutting, and i think if he used that when he was slowed it would be pretty cool, but i dont know if you have the authority or even care to get that put in

Can you try asking some people to make me green?
