Echoing Patrick O'Donovan, FF's Dara Calleary also says false electoral statements by politicians don't count as misinformation, and denies that Micheál Martin has broken electoral promises: "I don't see them as broken political promises, Ben - that's your spin."

What Calleary is confirming is that party manifestos, especially @fiannafailparty manifestos, are meaningless; what politicians say prior to elections are meaningless; what politicians say should be accepted as lies and not merely misinformation. Well done once again to @Ben_Scallan @gript for challenging political parties who lie to the electorate; something you won't get from the government funded legacy media.

Flashback to yesterday:

They're still smarting at being asked questions by media that they have no control over.

@DavidJo94103316 The eye roll on Calleary 🙄 who these people think they are. As for the other fella…

They lie about the lies hardly surprising

@VC2243 They have a point about election promises, as such promises depend on the party achieving a strong overall majority. However something like a pledge to not go into government with FG by @MichealMartinTD doesn’t fall into that category. That’s an outright breach of promise.

He's right, it's not really 'misinformation', it's more like 'bare-faced lying to the public'.

The arrogance is breathtaking. They all got the same WhatsApp briefing on how to answer Ben, and now their responses are suspiciously identical, almost as if someone wrote the script. False claims aren’t “misinformation” and broken promises aren’t “broken”? @daracalleary puppet

It’s kinda stupid asking this question. Ask them why Micheal Martins recent statements on citizens being preferred for social housing isn’t misinformation

We need to put manners on our politicians, make an example out of 1 or 2 of them. They're completely out of control.

Dara Calleary did tell a party stalwart in the west a while back that the hate speech bill was only "gone for now." Which sounded like a political promise they intend to keep. He'd deny that, of course. Which would be disinformation.

@Ben_Scallan FFG should release a joint manifesto next time round so if they’re using their coalition as an excuse to break every promise they campaign on

When you are used to the likes of RTE telling you how incredible you are, basic questions seem very oppresive

Clarifyng that the spin about mis/dis/malinformation is really just them attempting to silence those they don't agree with.

It's disinformation, Martin knew ff were not going to win an outright majority. Disinformation - "False or misleading information deliberately created or spread to deceive people". Misinformation - "False or misleading information shared without necessarily intending to deceive."

@Ben_Scallan They don’t like being questioned on false electoral statements . Maybe all future electoral statements by candidates should come with a warning along the lines of: current statements and promises made by this candidate are no guarantee of future actions or policy direction.

We need laws like this one brought in for politicians

Still waiting for the referendum on water ownership!

You are probably the only journalist asking these questions. Is it any wonder we are where we are with non existent journalists/opposition.

Politician’s Making false electoral statements doesn’t count as misinformation …the sense of entitlement #WakeUpIreland #VoteThemAllOut

These vermin are actively working against the indigenous Irish people. Carrying out the plantation of Ireland. The WEF puppets

Another lying prick. Sitting there full of attitude. Needs a good slap. Appalling attitude toward Ben just like the others

Well then lets call it outright blatant lies instead which goes against their code of ethics as public office holders, on those grounds they should all be sacked.

@Ben_Scallan @daracalleary would it be possible for politicians to not lie? Is that too difficult?

Calleary is putting a spin on the 500 euro cost of disability payment which is, by his own logic making it misinformation.

@Ben_Scallan Calleary…..Another prick. Told us all to do one thing during Covid and then went and did the complete opposite. There’s your mis information right there

Wow these guys are just unbelievable

They are so fcuking arrogant and deluded. That cnut of a Calleary should have been run out of Leinster House after his golf gate scandal.

@VC2243 Irony is that we do have a country without a Government !!!!!

@Ben_Scallan Keep at them Ben. Can see the dread in all their faces as you prepare to ask your questions 👏🏻

No need to misinform when you can fabricate, prevaricate and equivocate.

They all do it sure didn’t Enda Kenny say it was and I quote “it is morally wrong , unjust and unfair to tax a persons home “

And remember he also said the Triple lock was central to our neutrality...
