A lesser-known fact about Eddie Van Halen is that he holds a U.S. patent for a unique guitar accessory. In 1987, he was granted Patent No. 4,656,917 for a "Musical Instrument Support," a flip-out device that attaches to the back of a guitar. This invention allowed the instrument to rest on a player's leg or at a right angle to their body, freeing both hands to perform his signature two-handed tapping technique more comfortably while standing. Must disagree. He really disappointed. Most of the problems in VH stemmed from his fragile ego. Such a waste. But as a guitarist per se, no he didn't.
