Edgar Wright has mastered the “Texas Switch”, seamlessly swapping actors with stunt doubles mid shot without an obvious cut, using the trick for action, visual comedy, and impossible gags while keeping the camera moving.

Note Pegg drops from view after each fence jump, so so the stuntman switch on the third jump doesn't stand out to the viewer.

This is pretty elementary compared to some of the amazing stuff Edgar Wright has done. Weird you chose this instead of Shaun of the Dead's walk to the shops or Baby Driver's walk to the coffee store.

In Last Night in Soho (2021), director Edgar Wright pulled off the famous "Texas Switch" without CGI, using a mirrored set, a body double, and perfect timing as Thomasin McKenzie ducked behind Anya Taylor-Joy to seamlessly take her place.

THE MUMMY uses a "graphic match cut" on the map to jump forward in time and seamlessly enter a new location. By keeping the map as the visual anchor, the audience instantly understands the transition. An elegant editing technique that compresses time and keeps the story moving.

🎥 Zach Cregger’s 'RESIDENT EVIL' movie was shot using the Sony Rialto system. In a new behind the scenes video, the crew explains how Rialto gave them more freedom with the camera. The system separates the lens and sensor from the main camera body and connects them with a cable. This gives the camera operator a much smaller and lighter camera to move around, while keeping the image quality of the main camera. (via: StreamWars)

Inception (2010) directed by Christopher Nolan is a mind-bending blend of action, emotion, and imagination. One of the film’s most striking moments is the explosion scene, which used zero CGI. Every stunt was filmed in-camera using practical effects and precisely timed pyrotechnics. The slow-motion collapse was captured at 3,000 frames per second, turning chaos into visual poetry and reflecting the fragility of subconscious control. The cost of a single take for that shot was an incredible $250,000.

In a 1962 episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show", Mary Tyler Moore unexpectedly sank an "impossible" three-ball pool shot on her first take. Though a professional was on standby for a camera trick, her success was genuine surprise and a perfect shot.

Brad Williams Exposes the Hypocrisy Behind Peter Dinklage’s Snow White Backlash. “He criticizes Dinklage for speaking out against Disney using dwarf actors in the live-action Snow White remake. Williams points out that taking a stance against those roles hurt the little people community by taking away actual job opportunities from dwarf actors, stand-ins, and stunt doubles.” “He calls Dinklage a hypocrite for refusing "offensive dwarf roles" after having already starred in Tiptoes, which Williams calls the most offensive movie to little people ever made."

The Killer (1989) John Woo on shooting the Killer without a script. “‘The Killer,’ I even shot without a script. With no script. Just an outline, the whole movie was in my head. ….most of the action, I choreograph by myself, because I’m a pretty good dancer,” he said, “An action sequence is like I’m making a dancing scene, or I’m dancing with the actors.” Woo said he would sometimes surprise his producer by arriving at a location, very early, with only a general idea of what he needed to shoot. He described once asking for “30 stunt guys and 150 extras.” “And they were asking… Mr Woo, what’s the story about?” he recalled. “I said, ‘I don’t know.’”

The Gaussian Pole in Action Here is the first capture I made on my initial attempt using standard camera settings. From a single 360-degree orbit around the bike, I extracted 452 images from the five DJI Osmo Action 4 cameras. For ease of viewing and sharing, I rendered the output with luma. While the overall result isn't bad, the details could be sharper. I'll need to tweak the camera settings. Nonetheless, I'm quite pleased with this first effort, and there's significant potential to enhance the quality further with camera setting adjustments.

King Beast 3 continues the wild ride with bigger danger, stronger characters, and plenty of tension. The film leans into its action and creature-driven thrills while keeping the story moving at a fast pace. It may not reinvent the genre, but it delivers the kind of chaotic entertainment fans of the series come for. 🔥🎬
