still crazy to me that he broke through the cement pavement as a normal banner, and Hulk only comes out after he had already fell through the ground I’m thinking shouldn’t he have splattered on the ground considering he was not fully transformed and still in Banner form?

Sounds like if Norton has his way Hulk would have had like four story arcs by this point in the mcu. Maybe egotistical but he definitely would have gotten more mileage out of Hulk than any of the mcu writer’s rooms.

Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner felt like he was living in a horror movie where the monster was himself. Every bit of anger came with the possibility of losing control and becoming something he was terrified of. I really wish the MCU had kept more of that fear around the Hulk.

Edward Norton pushed for a more serious and grounded Hulk movie. He was so into The Incredible Hulk that he rewrote and reworked many parts of the script. He basically made Hulk what he was all along: badass and powerful. Marvel didn’t like how much control he wanted. Norton said: “I laid out a two-film thing: The origin and then the idea of Hulk as the conscious dreamer, the guy who can handle the trip. “And they were like, ‘That’s what we want!’ As it turned out, that wasn’t what they wanted. But I had a great time doing it."

Edward Norton turns 57 today. The 4 x Oscar nominee was nominated as recently as 2025 for his performance alongside Timothée Chalamet as the legendary Pete Seeger in my boy James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown. Norton is a thoughtful, thinking actor. I fully expect his 4 Oscar nominations to turn into 5 in a few months after his outstanding performance in Olivia Wilde’s The Invite. Something tells me Norton is just getting warmed up.
