Factories, farms, & shops have been built for prisoners to work 24/7 At the textile workshop alone, inmates produce up to 600,000 garments monthly. They have made 188,000 medical-use garments, including uniforms, masks, and lab coats. They have also made 114,000 sports outfits, 18,000 uniforms for public school students, and more than 9,000 uniforms for the El Salvador military. This is what jail should actually be: WORK. WORK. WORK. And more WORK.

Protests and marches up and down the country today and one message back - any package put forward must relieve hardship for ALL corners of society - this is a national crisis and people are hurting badly . These are ordinary decent people who don’t have the dart or the luas or Dublin bus to get them to work - a word of personal thanks to those who came up to me at the protests this morning to express sincere thanks for the work we are doing in Independent Ireland in standing up for the ordinary person
