🐘💧The ongoing European heatwave means that even elephants are desperate for some refreshment A baby elephant at Vienna Zoo, about to turn a year old on August 20, is learning how to beat the heat by watching its mother and "aunt". According to Vienna Zoo, the male baby elephant spends a lot of time with an older female elephant who currently enjoys taking a dip in the bathing pool of their enclosure, encouraging the baby elephant to follow suite. "Our young bull elephant is always right there in the thick of it. He usually follows right after his favourite aunt, already checking to see how deep he can go into the bathing pool," said zoo keeper Jenny Bukowski. "Once bath time is over, it’s usually time for the mud, followed by the sand—making for the perfect skincare routine."
