Musk’s Mars vision highlights the urgency of innovation—but let’s not forget: every dollar spent on interplanetary backups must come from cutting Earth’s bureaucratic bloat first. Colonizing Mars isn’t sci-fi fantasy; it’s a survival imperative. But Washington’s addiction to waste—$2 trillion deficits, endless foreign aid, and green subsidies for connected elites—threatens both planets. If we can’t efficiently govern Earth, how will we manage Mars? Prioritize ruthless efficiency here to fund humanity’s future there. No more taxpayer-funded black holes—redirect every cent to real solutions, whether securing borders or securing civilizations.

You’re absolutely right, Elon. A backup planet is smart survival. Let’s hope we don’t need it, but I’m glad you’re thinking ahead for all of us. 🌍🚀🌖

Elon Musk on why progress is only measured in steps toward Mars: “Having two planets that are both self-sustaining and strong is going to be incredibly important for the long-term survival of civilization” Real progress is not just launching rockets or landing on Mars. The only thing that actually matters is how fast we can build a self-sustaining civilization on Mars So, as SpaceX launches Starship more frequently and rapidly.... advances new technology Elon measures success by one simple question: “Are we getting closer to making Mars a real, independent second home for humanity, and how much faster?” That’s the only timeline that counts 🚀

ELON: MARS WOULD BE A FUNDAMENTAL FORK IN THE ROAD OF HUMAN DESTINY “The fundamental fork in the road for human destiny is where Mars can continue to grow even if the supply ships from Earth stop coming for any reason. At that point, we've achieved civilizational resilience where Mars can potentially come to the rescue of Earth if something goes wrong. Or maybe Earth could come to the rescue of Mars, but having two planets that are both self-sustaining and strong I think is going to be incredibly important for the long-term survival of civilization.” Source: SpaceX Update, May 2025

Elon Musk on why humanity must become multiplanetary: “I think it's important for the long-term preservation and ultimately the expansion and extension of the scope and scale of consciousness... that we must become a multi-planet species Because there are all these risks that we can't control existential risks. There's asteroids, super volcanoes, we could have a World War III... History does not suggest that civilization lasts forever” Elon is optimistic about the future, but he is also realistic Civilization has survived so far but history shows that catastrophic events eventually happen. The only chance is becoming a multi-planet species

Elon Musk: We need a seed of human civilization somewhere else to bring back civilization to Earth and shorten the next Dark Ages. “If you know that there's likely to be, we don't know, but there's likely to be another Dark Ages, which it seems, my guess is there probably will be at some point. I'm not predicting that we're about to enter a Dark Ages, but that there's some probability that we will, particularly if there's a Third World War. Then we want to make sure that there's enough of us, of a seed of human civilization somewhere else to bring civilization back and perhaps shorten the length of the Dark Ages. I think that's why it's important to get a self-sustaining base, ideally on Mars, because Mars is far enough away from Earth that a war on Earth, the Mars base might survive. It's more likely to survive than a moon base. But I think a moon base and a Mars base, that could perhaps help regenerate life back here on Earth, would be really important. And to get that done before a possible World War III. You know, last century we had two massive world wars, three if you count the Cold War. I think it's unlikely that we will never have another world war again. It just could be radioactive rubble.” Source: Elon Musk at SXSW 2018, Austin, Texas, March 11, 2018.

Elon Musk: The long-term value of SpaceX is immense – it’s just beyond the planning horizon of most investors. WSJ: “Who's going to pay for [the Mars colonization]? Are your investors going to put the money up to do that?” Elon: “I think long-term, the value of it will be incredibly high. It's just beyond the planning horizon of most people or most investors. Obviously, if there's a thriving city on Mars and there's a lot of interplanetary commerce and SpaceX is the primary provider of that, it would be immensely valuable.” Interview with the WSJ, May 2023

Elon Musk: It’s not just about visiting Mars. It’s about building a city on Mars. "I would like to go to Mars, that's nice to have, but what is important is that we establish a self-sustaining city on Mars. This is important for the long-term future of humanity or consciousness as we know it. So, it's less about a few people to Mars, but more about creating a self-sustaining city on Mars and humanity becoming a space-faring civilization, which I think is incredibly inspiring for the future." ELON: YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL HOW YOU PROGRAM AI “If you program an AI to think that misgendering is the worst thing that could possibly occur, then, well, it could do something totally crazy. In order to ensure that there's no misgendering that can ever happen, we'll just annihilate all humans. That ensures the probability of misgendering is zero, because there's zero humans.” Source: Joe Rogan Experience

🚨 ELON: “OUR CIVILIZATION WILL END, JUST NOT YET” At the Milken Institute, Elon gave a surprisingly sobering take, pointing to ancient Sumeria, a once mighty, now mostly forgotten society, as an example of how quickly a civilization can vanish and be erased from memory. Basically, progress isn’t guaranteed, and collapse is always on the table as civilization is fragile, so thinking long-term isn't optional. Elon: “There's been so many civilizations that have risen and fallen, many that we just don't have much of a record of. There are many long-dead civilizations, and at some point our civilization will come to an end, too. We just don't want it to be anytime soon.” Source: ELON CLIPS, Elon Musk, Milken Institute, May 6, 2024

Both President Trump and Elon Musk understand that we are in a war for the future of Western Civilization and that it's time for Republicans to finally grow a spine and get tough to defeat the left.

ELON: WE HAVE TO BUILD A SELF-SUSTAINING CITY ON MARS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE “The important thing is that we build a self-sustaining city on Mars as quickly as possible. The key threshold is when that city can continue to grow and prosper even when the supply ships from Earth stop coming. It might not be World War III, but that civilization dies with a whimper rather than a bang, and simply loses the ability to send ships to Mars. So, you obviously need Mars to become self-sustaining and be able to grow by itself before the resupply ships from Earth stop coming. That is the critical civilizational threshold, beyond which the probable lifespan of civilization is much greater. I think it can be done in 20 years. We're going to need on the order of a million people, maybe a million tons of cargo.” Source: Verdict Podcast with Ted Cruz, March 2025, Elon Musk
