Elon Musk on why humanity must become multiplanetary: “I think it's important for the long-term preservation and ultimately the expansion and extension of the scope and scale of consciousness... that we must become a multi-planet species Because there are all these risks that we can't control existential risks. There's...

Elon just dropped the multiplanetary truth and my four pups answered in 6 seconds flat 😂 watch them already living on Mars — tearing across real crimson dunes at sunset, low-g leaps that feel like flying, ears streaming like solar sails, pure undiluted joy under an alien pink sky. this is the wild curious spirit that can’t die on one rock. consciousness needs infinite playgrounds. Mars isn’t a backup, it’s destiny. your dog ever looked like they were literally born for the red planet in just 6 seconds? drop the clip RIGHT NOW, I need this energy tonight 👇 #PuppiesToMars #MakeLifeMultiplanetary #MarsOrBust

Earth's biosphere is riddled with obscene suffering. Spreading the biology of suffering to other worlds is ethically indefensible. IF you believe that Earth-originating Earth should propagate, then first use genome reform to ensure the biology of suffering isn't propagated too.

Musk wants a backup drive for humanity on Mars. Sounds visionary, and it actually is. Consciousness as something worth preserving across planets, civilisation as something too valuable to risk on a single rock. He's not wrong about the threats. But millions already face a daily apocalypse from poverty and collapsed healthcare. Their existential threat is tomorrow morning, not a future asteroid. The question isn't whether Mars matters, maybe it does. The question is whether we've decided that preserving the future of consciousness is more urgent than protecting the consciousness already here. Both can be true and both deserve the same urgency.

@elonmusk That’s funny I love how Elon can make a bad thing turn out good like that it makes things a little easier to know it’s good to laugh even if your talking about something so ultimately caustic or something muiltplantary live for humanity is going to be great

@ Elon Musk Elon,Forget the surface of Mars for now. The priority should be building a sustainable underground base first.Hire botanists and radiation-shielding experts to lead the effort. Use underground habitats to:Farm with artificial lighting powered by solar energy Melt Martian ice to produce water Create a protected living and working environment. This may be the way. Meanwhile, deploy robots to harvest near-Earth asteroids for resources. The Boring Company can drill deep into the Martian subsurface for expanded living and farming space, and Starlink can provide reliable communication. All of this can be funded through the upcoming SpaceX IPO.I have additional ideas along these lines — and I’m currently working on a nuclear propulsion engine in concept capable of sustained thrust over long durations.Elon (or Mr. X Freeze), feel free to DM me. It will be worth say 3 minutes of you time.

Elon is right — we shouldn’t just survive, we must thrive and flourish. Putting all of human consciousness on a single planet is like putting it all in one egg. History has shown that the egg eventually cracks. Asteroids, supervolcanoes, wars, or even our own mistakes. But for the first time in history, humanity has the chance to become a multiplanetary species. This is not just about survival — it’s our greatest adventure. Thank you for reminding us why SpaceX matters far more than it seems. 🌌

Completely agree with this, the first step is building a thriving lunar base to use as a launch pad for interplanetary exploration. Noting that exiting the moon's gravity is significantly easier than the earths. A few key companies enabling this: > $SPCX: Will launch stuff to the moon, provide lunar landers, and enable interplanetary exploration; > $FLY: Providing lunar landers and imagery via their lunar imagery constellation > $LUNR: Providing lunar landers, lunar terrain vehicles, and a lunar communications constellation

It's amazing to see how people think outside the box. I see the passion to give humanity the best. But it shouldn't be at the expense of God's initial plan for humanity. Because our stay here is temporary, there is a place for us after here. We should be more concerned about that. Selah.

Today, l can say that Sir Elon has a message that goes beyond the inventions. I’m learning not to fear the “multi-planet species.” He references the “asteroids ( it’s coming Revelation 8:10-11 expected April 2029. NASA says it won’t hit earth, the Lord said it will hit us…Likewise the Lord said “prepare for war” it’s coming. The super volcanoes will also erupt. Now, I’m really getting on board since the Lord told someone l know to build the machine that opens up the portal to go to another dimension. This is all too much for me.

It appears, he's not aware that human are only able to live on earth. There's no other planet we know of that has the same conditions. Cosmic radiation will kill us. We cannot live without air, water, soil. These are pipe dreams.

I agree with the core idea. A single-planet civilization has no real backup. But becoming multiplanetary is not only about survival. It is about what kind of civilization we carry with us. If we take the same blind optimization, conflict, dependency and information chaos beyond Earth, we are not evolving - we are exporting our failure modes. The Moon and Mars should not become escape routes. They should become laboratories for a more mature human civilization: human + AI, energy + biology, infrastructure + meaning, expansion + responsibility. Survival matters. But trajectory matters too.

True. Being multiplanetary is less about “escaping Earth” and more about ensuring humanity survives long term. One global catastrophe could wipe out civilization, so having self-sustaining life on another planet acts like a backup for human consciousness and progress. The challenge is huge, but the idea itself makes sense from a survival perspective.

@elonmusk I think creativity is the point. Consciousness is what allows the ability to create. Not the other way around.
