Elon Musk: I guess I've been sort of pathologically optimistic from birth, but that's the reason all this stuff is happening anyway --- “When we were kids in school, my brother would tell me the wrong time for the bus so that I wouldn't miss the bus. And then...

Elon Musk: The one thing you cannot replace is time. “This is really all just measured in terms of time. What is the time risk associated with something? The one thing you cannot replace is time. And I do have a habit of being optimistic with schedules. I mean, if I wasn't optimistic, I wouldn't be doing the crazy things that I'm doing. I must be pathologically optimistic, I suppose.” Everyday Astronaut Starbase Tour 2021, August 7, 2021

Elon Musk, “I was getting demotivated and losing sleep over AI danger. I became fatalistic and thought, ‘Even if annihilation was certain, would I choose to be alive?’ I decided I would, because it’s the most interesting thing. I’ve been banging the drum the hardest for AI danger, and the biggest reason these regulations are happening is because of me.”

Zack Snyder on his dyslexia: "It was a challenge for me when I was, you know, young in school, and all I wanted to do was make movies because that was the thing that I got great pleasure from and reward from. I love books, and I'm an avid reader, but I just have a hard time because of the way that I perceive. "I've had a great sort of - one side of me anyways - was really satisfied by art and drawing and sculpture and sort of visual expression. And I think that that started to, you know, was the thing that kind of made me feel un-frustrated. And also the way the system was designed, sort of not to support me when I was in high school at that time. "It was very difficult, you know, there was a lot of, you know, just, difficulty. My English teacher in high school was worried about what my career would be, and I'm like. He would be happy to know that I'm in the Writers Guild of America now. "But, I think that that all those things are, they're all... you can transcend all those things with perseverance and with interest and with with help. And I think that that's an important part of it. "And I just think I've had to adapt, and sort of... I have my own style of the way I write, I write all, you know, but I'm pretty prolific. And I love- I listen to tons of audio books on tape, unabridged hours and hours and hours. That's all I do when I'm driving in the car or wherever I'm doing. And it's helped me a lot. "And yeah, I mean, I just hope that anyone who is- feels trapped or frustrated by the world in general. You know, they need to just, I think that we all have like a magic spark, and you need to just find the thing that makes you, you know, inspires you and, and gets you excited and pursue it as hard as you can find your passion in the world. That's a, that's a great motivator."

True happiness comes from helping others: “By far my favorite thing in the world is championing other people. That's just what I enjoy doing. If I look back on my life, the sort of wins that I've had, the things that if you were to write a Wikipedia article about me would be like the accolades or the accomplishments…. I don't care about those things. I don't think about them. When they happened, they didn't do anything for me emotionally or otherwise. For whatever reason that's just not what I enjoy. But when your success happens or when many other people that I and my team have championed, have a win —I feel that deep in my soul and heart and gut in a way that is just more gratifying to me than anything else in the world. And this extends to my kids, my wife, my friends, the CEOs of companies that we've invested in, people that we have on our show, that we tell the world about. That's the repeated thing that I love.”

Elon Musk turned down all shares when he left OpenAI because he believed nonprofits are not meant for self-enrichment. "The reason I founded OpenAI was because I was concerned, based on my conversations with Larry Page, that he was not sufficiently concerned about the dangers of AI. At my birthday party, he, in front of a large group of people, called me a speciesist, for favoring humanity over computers. So after that, I was like, We got to have some counterbalance to Google, because Larry doesn't seem to care if humans make it or not. So I thought, what's the opposite of Google? It would be an open source nonprofit, and that's where the word open, in OpenAI comes from. It means open source. I provided all the money, recruited the key people, and taught them everything I know. I actually even got them to deal with Microsoft. And for all that, I did not seek any financial reward whatsoever. The reason I actually took down the offer for shares is because, I mean, I felt like what are the shares, and why like nonprofits supposed to have shares? Nonprofits are not supposed to be self enrichment, so that's why I turned on the offer of shares." — Elon Musk

Elon Musk: "I thought the self-driving problem would be hard, but it was harder than I thought. It's not like I thought it would be easy, I thought it would be very hard, but it was actually way harder than even that. I mean, what it comes down to at the end of the day is to solve self-driving, you basically need to recreate what humans do to drive, which is: humans drive with optical sensors (eyes) and biological neural nets. That's how the entire road system is designed to work, So for actually for full self-driving to work, we have to recreate that in digital form."

Elon Musk on Sam Altman: "I'm not a fan of Sam Altman because if you started a non-profit that was meant to be an open source AI company and it somehow got turned into an 800 billion dollar for-profit company with closed source, I think you'd be like, well, wait a second, that's the exact opposite of what I donated the money for. That's my issue. I think it's a legitimate one. And then Dario, I think, also is not a fan of Sam Altman because he felt, in fact, the reason the Anthropic team left OpenAI is because they didn't trust Sam Altman. Otherwise Anthropic wouldn't exist. They would still be at OpenAI. But at the end of the day, if we have to talk, we'll talk.I mean, set aside our personal differences for the good of the world."

.Renato Moicano explains why he did not take the UFC settlement payout: "I base the stuff that I do based on principles... and that's hard. I like money, but I would never rob a bank. I would never go against my word just to get money. That's my whole point. My whole point is when these people signed with the UFC, they were very happy about this. 10 years later they say, 'No. I was not happy. I was abused.' And then when they have the chance to keep going with the lawsuit, they dropped it because they did the settlement. So they got the money and the lawsuit is gone. Guess what? UFC will continue doing the same thing that you've been complaining about."

Thought today was another really good Scottie Scheffler presser but particularly this answer when talking about dealing with the pressure of the career Grand Slam. "It's kind of a funny thing. It's like, yeah, if I win this tournament, that would be amazing, but I think then I show up the next week, and it's like, okay, now Scottie's won the grand slam, he's won all these golf tournaments. Now where do we go from here? So no matter what, I think as a player and as a professional athlete, you're never going to live up to the expectations of people. I think sometimes that's a little bit of the fallacy in our sport is like, if I win the U.S. Open, then I'm going to be satisfied. I've won all the tournaments, and my career is essentially over, and I've accomplished everything I could want to accomplish. But I think the goal posts are always just moved further and further. "For me, would it be a dream to win the U.S. Open? Of course. But at the end of the day, like I -- the grand slam has never been a motivating factor for me. I always just wanted to be the best version of myself, and that got me this far."

To My Day. 🐻: But really as I always say, the reason our concerts can be so fun is really because of you! I'm not just saying this~ When people come to our shows, the friends and family we've invited always say the same thing. I mean sure they say our songs are good or that we sing well but those are kind of like extra factors. They always tell me "Your fans are insane!" Your energy and the atmosphere we create together is honestly what makes the concerts so fun and makes people want to come! That's why we always tell you that you're really people who can do well no matter where u go! That's how we see you! Seriously! So you should feel proud of yourselves! Not just proud of us but proud of yourselves too. Because the way we see you is filled with pride as well. That's why why we can think and speak this way. But for real, thank you. I'm really grateful for the kind of relationship we formed in the first place, but I'm even more thankful that you kept it going like this. I really appreciate that. So, this is not about raising your self esteem. This is really what we see. You know me. I'm not the type of person who says things I don't mean. I can't even make up things even if I wanted to and it's obvious when I lie. So what I say is coming straight from my heart, so I hope you can just take it as it is because that's how I really see you. I don't know what our individual lives are like outside the concert venue because I've never seen that. But you all seem people who can do anything. And you always show that at our concerts. That's how trust builds with between us. But honestly, you do all really sing well. Even better than us at times. We try our best with harmonies and all. But like what you during the fanmeeting*, you pull everything together and leave people amazed. That's just how it is. Just the fact that it keeps coming back in conversations says something, right? I think so too and I felt it back then. It was so touching. If something can move me to tears, and I'm someone who makes music, I'm a singer... but the fact that you made me feel that way, that's saying something. And I'm someone who sings for a living. I have such high standards but you were able to touch my heart like that, then I think it would be the same for anyone watching. The emotions really come through. And I think that's ultimately the most important thing. *

The SEC has been one of the most disgustingly corrupt agencies for years The SEC forced Elon Musk to say he lied, when he did not lie. If he didn’t, Tesla would have been destroyed “I was told by the banks that if I did not agree to settle with the SEC, that the banks would cease providing working capital and Tesla would go bankrupt immediately. So that's like having a gun to your child's head. So I was forced to concede to the SEC unlawfully. Those bastards. And now it makes it look like I lied when I did not, in fact, lie. I was forced to admit that I lied to save Tesla's life, and that's the only reason.”
