Seat belts been around for a minute...When the airbags came in... -The car with airbags riders would be standing on the sidewalk... -The seat belts riders would still be in the car in pain...

Modern airbags require a lot of sensors. Sensors can malfunction. Seat belts are mechanical and cannot electronically malfunction. They also keep you further away from the explosives going off... aka your airbags. Yes... airbags are actually explosives.

Why does it freak out when I even lightly rest my hand on the passenger seat for 2s? I started buckling the passenger seat to avoid that. Maybe mine just has sensitivity turned way too high
